I have loved speed cubing for years, but I have never had a timer. I'm not that great, and I have never been in a competition, but it's crossed my mind to maybe enter a senior category if one comes to town LOL. I figured I'd be very disoriented having never used a timer before and would probably fail miserably multiple times, so it couldn't hurt to practice with an official-like timer. I don't know if there are requirements, but this looks like a professional model. The timer I received is a QiYi, or QY Toys, and it's a name that I've heard multiple times, so I was really happy about that. They seem to know what they're doing. It works just like I've seen on videos, it's nothing too complicated, and it stores up to 3 records. I guess that saves you from having to jot down the numbers as often. The pads for your hands do not click or depress, they seem to be just touch sensitive, while the power and other control buttons do have a click to them for a nice feel. There's a port to use a competition display timer along with it, but I don't have a display like that. It came with good instructions that are easy to understand. A very cool feature that I wasn't aware of is that it comes with 2 little mounting buttons that you can use to secure this timer to a mat, and it will also be removeable. I do actually have a mat but don't know if I'll punch holes in it just yet since I use it as a desk pad. There are also rubber feet anyway, so I hope it doesn't slide around too much. I can't wait to get into the habit of using this, I think it will probably improve my times since I rarely push myself to improve. I solve more for fun, but simulating the competition experience might give me some motivation. I love the product, thank you so much.

Well my own desire to check this out was hampered by the extremely lengthy amount of time it took to get me one after I assume being on back order wasn't great, but should speak pretty highly of this timer as it relates to the demand for it.If you or anyone in your family is or has been a fan of solving puzzle cubes, and have taken that enjoyment online to watching others and world champions score frankly, upsetting, unbeatable times then you've seen this or one very close to it.When reviewing purchases, sometimes can only grade a pass/fail. I know what it was when I ordered it, what I expected of it so then it can either be everything I expected it to be, or abysmal failure for failing to work as designed. And with delight, I proclaim I got a good one.One interesting aspect is, it has screen length that accommodates 6 digits, only farthest left place is for minutes, (two for seconds and with three places for the millisecond finishes that will sometimes determine extreme competition.) So, that might be the only limitation of it is trying to solve for 4x4 or 5x5 or higher and it's going to take you longer than 9 minutes, 99 seconds. I am not sure what happens at that point.I might be only one that solves a 4x4 and higher the way you would build a ship in a bottle, meaning a little bit every time I find time, and marked by days nevermind hours or minutesAppreciate how it has the ability to have five different saved times. So that as long as everyone understood that they are slot 1 through 5 you can have five individuals keep their best score.Lost the manual tip: you save time by hitting save icon, triangle to select save slot, then save icon to store then the yellow arrow circle twice to play againWe found that at the finish of a solve it always was able to stop the time even with the most excited of flailing arms.It works great I like it a lot. Also, as house champion of the 3X3 puzzle solve in my small Kingdom, I proudly flex on my 1 minute 28 second record.

For its main purpose, this timer works as well as any officially sanctioned and branded timer that I've seen. The package comes in a slim box. There isn't any real assembly, but you will need to use your own tiny phillips screwdriver to open the back and insert your own 2 AAA batteries, then reattach the cover. Operation is simple, you turn it on with the power button, cycle through the minimal settings with the arrow/Play key, and then rest your hands on the two sides as the LED lights on the left side act as a countdown. The timer starts when you take your hands off the contacts and the timer will stop when both hands rest on the contacts. The LED display is clear and you can see your time out to X.XXX seconds. There is a floppy disk button you can hit to save your time. The center bottom of the timer also features a small jack that you can use to display your time on a screen or something, but I'm not sure how that works. No cords are included. It looks like it might be a 3.5mm jack that you can run to an RCA video cable and hook it up to a TV potentially. I did not test that feature out, but it seems like it's something you can try if you're interested in that. The main thing here is that the hand sensors seem good. They feel accurate and will activate with a light, but complete touch to stop the timer. The only minor quibble I have is that the speed stacking mats I own feature posts at the bottom of the mat that are closely spaced, whereas the holes in the bottom of this timer are farther apart. So I cannot attach this timer to my specific brand of mats. It still works just fine loosely resting at the base of my speed stacking mats, but it would have been even better if I could attach it for extra stability.Overall, though, this is a really good timer for speed stacking or speed cubing at a reasonable price.

This touch-activated timer works great for the kids doing cup stacking or any activity that requires a precise timing,They use it to race individually around a course and touch to stop, relay races, solving puzzles and all kinds of things. There are options to remember several of the last times and show them on the display. It's very precise with timing down to the thousandth of a second.
