Most dogs and cats will love this thing, though I am sure some will be scared of it. I gave it to my dog and it didn't last long before it broke, but she LOVED it while it lasted. It is meant for cats, not really dogs. Even small dogs will just bite and break it pretty quickly, the plastic spinner bit just sits in 2 small holes and is easily bent, broken, or popped out (disabling the toy until you fix it).Not bad, just don't expect it to last long when given to dogs. It is more for cat use.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who has two very playful cats, and it was a total hit! She told me they were immediately fascinated and spent hours chasing it around. The automatic movement and feather tail kept them engaged, and she loved that it’s rechargeable — no hassle with batteries. It made for a fun and unique gift, and I’m so glad it brought joy to both her and her fur babies!

My cat fell in love with it the moment I opened the box. It keeps her active, entertained, and mentally stimulated every day. The movement is fast and fun, which triggers her hunting instincts and gives her lots of exercise. The toy is also made from quality materials and is easy to clean, which I really appreciate. If you’re looking for a fun and effective toy for your cat, I highly recommend this one!

Not sure what is up with Amazon lately but I seem to be receiving used products. It came in a baggy with nothing but the ball and charger, no instructions or box.It’s unclear what the different settings are but it is definitely not for all cats. My lazy cat was not at all interested and just walked away. My other cat tried to play with it, but the pauses between movement were too long and he’d begin to walk away when it would start up again. After a few times he began to wait longer before leaving but you could tell that he was getting bored the moment it paused movement.I would say that it’s worth the cost and is completely silent. The battery lasts maybe an hour.

Edit one day later: Unfortunately, the fourth time I put this on the charger, it kept blinking instead of turning to the solid charged light. When I turn it on, it immediately turns back off now. I've cleaned it well, tried to charge again, but it seems to be toast. Very disappointing since my cat now begs for his toy...***I got this for my eleven-month-old cat who has way too much energy for the humans and other cat in the household. I was hoping he would play on his own and give the rest of us a break...and he did! In fact, he loves this toy so much that when I plugged it in to charge (which turns on the lights) he jumped on my desk to go after it. He's never ready for play time to end when the ten minute period is up and the toy powers down. And while it's active, he gladly rushes under the couch to chase it, grabs the "tail" to pin it, and generally has a blast.The primary downside of the toy is battery life. I charged it, ran it twice, then it needed to be charged again. (The charging port is a little annoying at first too, until I realized I can yank the rubbery plastic aside with tweezers to get to the port.)The toy does collect dust and pet fur, especially on the tail, when it runs under furniture where I don't clean. That hasn't been a real problem --- I just yank off the grime in between games.My other cat is very uninterested, and I suspect that at least 70% of cats will be like her. I definitely recommend this toy for the high-energy kitty who is already chasing shadows and itching for more stimulation, not so much to tempt a fat lap cat into activity.I also think it wouldn't last long in a dog's mouth, but I don't have a dog so I can't say that for sure.
