These are the rings the spindle seals sit on. I recommend replacing the seals/bearing/thrust washer if yours are old/worn out or else they throw grease all over when the bearings warm up and spin fast. These slingers need deburring and are a bit sharp and need some sort of paint since they are bare steel.
