Okay, let me start off by saying I bought a few of these from different sellers on eBay, etc. I am trying to build this "grand daddy go-kart" as fast as possible. The EMPI spline stuff has this weird notch. The splines before the notch will fit into a 36-spline shaft hole in the Borgeson universal, but after the notch, they will not fit (it seems thicker). So, I have to grind off the splines after the first notch to insert deeper into the universal. I also had to do this on the EMPI 11" rack that I have. However, the spline ends from this listing (Moore Parts) are a PERFECT fit on the spline end of the USA-made Borgeson universal (no grinding needed). This makes me wonder if I got bad batches from the other sellers. Additionally, these (Moore Parts) had a black oxide finish and were not in any branded packaging, while the ones from other sellers were EMPI-branded with a polished chrome look.Something is off. Either EMPI made a bad batch that does not fit, or these are knock-offs that are machined perfectly. Either way, this is a five-star buy because I HATE buying stuff that does not fit as intended. For anyone wondering about the notch, it is supposed to serve as clearance for a clamp-style connector that allows a machine screw to tighten on the clamp, which I think is a bit weird for something needing precision-ground splines. I am new to DIY buggy game.I wouldn’t mind if Moore Parts is selling non-EMPI brand spline ends; they should just list that because so far, I cannot stand EMPI stuff. Also, not related, but the EMPI rack heims are clocked in opposing positions, which makes no, sense and you cannot adjust them. Moore Parts for the win, and EMPI-branded stuff for the L. MOORE if these are some alternative please tell us!The previous EMPI ends BTW seemed to be machined from 12L14 which is a leaded alloy. (I think because of how they machine on a lathe) Not sure how good that will TIG weld. Hopefully MOORE PARTS versions are a true mild steel. Finally something makes sense in this DIY car stuff. Its like hodge podge 24/7 in this new hobby.
