I have these in a couple of different sizes now. This one is absolutely perfect for helping to set smaller pin nails when they don't quite set below the surface for some reason. In the past, I have used "traditional" nail sets (the kind you hit with a hammer), but this is so much quicker in my opinion. Set it on the nail head, pull it back and let it go. Takes about two seconds. And if the nail needs another strike, it's about one second more. Plus, being able to adjust how hard you are hitting the nail (by changing how far you pull back on the spring) is really easy. It may take a couple of uses to get a feel for that adjustment, but once you do, these are fantastic little tools.
