These are absolutely fantastic...the difference from stock 996 lights to these is huge. I have a black C2 and the darker smoked lenses look incredible. Yes, as other reviewers say, they are definitely darker than the product picture (I think they actually are using the wrong picture :-). But that's the whole point...they look great.Instructions are sparse, but there are several on YouTube that talk about install...even if they are for 997s, it's basically the same thing (all the same except for how you take the actual light unit off). What I did was have another person behind me to put labels on the outside of the existing lights for each state -- brake on, lights on, blinkers, hazards, etc. Then I did the same thing for the internal wiring after I took the light enclosure off. Once I did that, it was simple. Important note -- they do NOT have an LED for the white reverse light -- you continue to use the EXISTING clear incandescent bulb for that part of the new light. Also, you will have one bulb socket unused -- make sure to secure the EMPTY socket back into the the new light unit.Initially I kept the other clear bulb that they didn't mention what to do with. Mistake, as the light didn't function properly. I pulled my hair out and troubleshooted by replacing the original, then bulbs one-by-one, eventually to determine that the new LED light was fine, but that the problem was with the car. Once I figured that out, I guessed that I must have blown a fuse. Turns out, that's exactly what happened (a 7.5V fuse). So....lesson learned...one socket will continue to use the existing clear bulb for the white backup light, and one bulb will be removed and NOT replaced -- just the empty socket needs to be secured back into the light unit. If you leave that extra bulb in, you'll blow a fuse.Even with all of that, I love these lights -- they look fantastic. I've included before and after pictures, as well as how I labeled wires before removing the harness.

These will really tranform the rear of your vehicle to something shiny and modern, and will have much better performance (brighter) light. I decided to buy these after reading several review and forums and ultimately deciding I didn't want to spend twice as much on the competing tail-lights from other vendors. This product really should come with installation instructions, because it's really fairly simple once you figure it out. What you'll do first is unbolt the existing tail lights, and you'll see the harness connecting each bulb location. Step 1, I would recommend taking a sharpie and marking the back of the bulb for what each one is for. Step 2, disconnect the harness and take out the bulbs by twisting and pulling. Step 3, begin plugging the wires into the new tail-light assembly - start with the obvious - the turn signal goes to the large clear area on the new tail lights (insert the plug into the bulb holder of the harness), put the other bulbs where they fit. It's tricky because the bulb location and function isn't exactly the same as what was removed. The taped harness has to be loosened to locate the small bulb on the exterior. Keep microfiber cloths around to use a cushion. On my 99 there was no hyper-flashing issue, but if you have a later model, understand that you'll need a new flasher relay from super bright leds.

I bought a pair of these and a pair of Depo lights. Comparing the two side by side, I ended up returning this pair. While I like their lens design, I am unimpressed with their quality:1. The lens is -very- susceptible to scratches even during installation. This is highly noticeable on the clear lens that I bought. They would definitely need a plastic film applied to protect them.2. They require you to reuse the factory harness. I had them working yesterday and when I wired them up again today the 7.5A fuse for the sidelights and tail lights blew. This might have been due to my installing the peanut LED connector with the incorrect polarity. With a factory connector like the Depos this possibility of incorrect installation is not possible.3. The reuse of the P21 reverse light rather than replacing it with an LED seems cheap. A pair of error free substitute LEDs is $45.4. I had fit issues and I am concerned about how well the assembly would "seal" to the body to prevent water accumulating behind it.5. There are no instructions provided and the YouTube videos and PDF on the Spyder website apply to a 997. The only actual video I found was on the Del Rey Customs site and they no longer sell these lights. All in all I felt that these lights cheapened the car even if they look aesthetically pleasing from distance.

I agree with the other reviewers about these lights - which I read carefully before purchase. They are very nice looking as noted and a nice upgrade. I think the smoked lights look very classy and fit well with the overall look of the OEM lights. They are designed to work with the existing harness and that actually that went smoothly on the install. BUT as noted in a prior review it is important to keep track of what connection in the harness goes to which lights before you remove them - as the set up of where the lights are is somewhat different than the OEM lights, and there are no instructions with the lights. Also the fit to the OEM clip is not as tight as the OEM lights - also noted in a prior review - but so far this is really not a major issue in terms of function. Overall very pleased with purchase. Great price.

They move around a bit, and water is able to get into the edges. It's not a serious water problem but detracts from the Porsche quality. Still, a decent replacement for OEM with an updated look.

Both lights work and look great. Unfortunately the driver's side light does not fit tight, so I have requested an exchange, which is out of stock. The replacement will not be available until June. At least the defective one is tight enough so that it won't fall out while I wait 2+ months for a new one.
