I love this mini sketchbook because of the quality of the paper. I think it's cold pressed paper, because of the texture. This paper holds pretty good amount of water, it can be lifted the pigments, and I love it! I'm impressed of this sketchbook.

These work really well for small works. I use them to capture the work from classes, in sequence. I also take them on vacation and do little paintings while on the go. In doing that, I have a little catalog of the things I saw, in order. I also take lots of pictures, and paint from images later, which lets me fill the little books. The paper works well for watercolors. I like these little books, and I like using them.

This book is fun sized. It makes me want to paint. The small size means I can play for a few minutes and walk away from it. It is less pressure than a big book. The paper is thick and textured. Only downside is sometimes it doesn't lay completely flat and my colors dribble into each other and pool at the edge

Small pocket size for watercolor on the go. The pages are nice and thick. But it is quite tiny so if you are looking for something bigger, better look for a bigger watercolor pad.

Some colors of this book are currently selling for $10; I got the lavender which was on sale for $5. I ordered two, and after it came and I inspected them and painted in one of them, I came back to order two more. For the price, I don't expect high quality binding. I have purchased other 140 lb watercolor paper books bound exactly like this: cardboard covers to which the first and last page of the watercolor paper is glued in the inside and some sort of colored paper on the outside. The pages are stitched, not just glued, with the outside of the binding being a sort of fabric glued to the signatures. Are they as sturdy as traditionally bound books? No. Will the cover fray and get dinged up a bit as I through the book in my bag and paint or sketch in it when I'm out and about? Probably. But since 140lb paper, whether cellulose, cotton or a mixture of the two are the most highly consumed part of the supplies a watercolorist uses, I'm happy to get such paper inexpensively bound because that means I an buy more of it to use as practice and playing around with ideas. (I also buy larger paper, both bound, padded and loose, and cut the sheets to the size, but I like have these books to take with me.)One thing I do with all of the small books I get (2"x2" up to 5"x5", including these 4"x4" Mifuner books) is to break them in like my dad taught me when I was a child getting my first hardback book. Resting the spine on a table or my thigh, I gently open both covers and spread them so they are almost flat, then I gently do the same thing with the first and last page, then follow through with the second and second to the last page, and so on until I reach the center of the book. None of these inexpensively made books has broken apart. Can't say for sure it is because I 'broke' them in like this, or if I got a good batch where other reviewers got bad batches, but it is a process I will stick with on these books of watercolor paper because it seems to work.I painted wet on dry on the inside front cover of the book, with a juicy brush. In the photo I uploaded, you can see some blooms, some layers, and that curved shape where I lifted the paint after it was dried, using a scrubber brush, one of them a hard/firm one. There was no fraying of the paper itself. There are some faint circles seen throughout which is where I believe dots of glue was used to glue the paper to the cardboard.I also uploaded a photo to try to show you the texture of the paper. It is a pretty typical cold press texture. The page thickness is comparable to other 140lb cp paper I have purchased, including the well known oft-recommended brands. For me, this is well worth the price for the quality of the paper and amount.

Was bought as a gift. She loves the size, and we’re both surprised at how well the paper performs. I liked how well bound it was.

Four inch square size and quality of the cover and paper is excellent. Good value for the money. We’ll make a nice keepsake with an artist’s paintings or sketching.

I was hesitant to get this as I usually stick to one or two brands for my watercolor. I’m glad I took a chance though as I’m in love! Paper is toothy enough to get good watercolor quality AND is thick enough so you can use both sides of the paper and the paper doesn’t buckle. I’m loving this product!

I am just learning how to watercolour and these little books are fantastic for practicing in. They are just the right size for creating small paintings in, and I love that I can flip through them and see my progress from when I started to now.
