The nut came out of the holder the first time tried. No way to stabilize it. Had to return. Great idea, just doesn't work.

I'm working on 14 ct. aida from a Dimensions cross stitch kit. The way these hoops fit together does not work well at all with the thickness of the fabric, the screw is much too short. There is an inside ridge to keep fabric taut, but I would be very careful using the hoop over delicate stitching areas. I think, however, they would be good for some of my embroidery projects on thinner fabric. I feel the hoops are sturdy enough for my liking and I do like the shapes and sizes.

Most of the tightening screws were unusable; was not what I expected; very disappointed

I live the different sizes and also that they are not round. I find them easier to hold.

Finding square or oval shaped hoops with the internal groove to hold the fabric in place is such a pain. These are just what I wanted. They're pretty sturdy and I'm pleased that they have the dimensions printed on the side of the hoops. They hold the fabric well, and I didn't have any trouble getting the fabric in place. The screw to tighten the hoop is held in with a hex nut that I'm assuming is glued in place, but they look pretty sturdy. The screwdriver that came with the kit is a nice gesture but it's not very easy to use with the long neck. I used a much stubbier screwdriver to get those last few turns in when tightening the hoop. The kit also came with some sewing needles, which is nice (no embroidery needles, though). Very pleased with this purchase overall.

The embroidery hoops have the little "bump and grove" that fit together to hold the fabric very well. You and get your fabric very taunt for needle punch or whatever your project is.

I bought a cross stitch kit and the large cloth was getting cumbersome to work. I wasn’t sure if a hoop would work because the cloth is stamped and there’s only about an inch border around where I’ll need to stitch. But I tried using the largest hoop and only caught the cloth at top and bottom and it’s working. The cloth isn’t as tight as it would be if I had caught the sides as well, but now I can stitch the entire width without having to move the hoop. These frames are much sturdier than the wooden hoops and they tighten up enough for my needs. So I’m very happy I purchased them.

These are good at not slipping. I don’t like that they look used, dirty, plastic dust & scratches. Over time the screw won’t work, the plastic shaves off as you tighten.
