The lock barrel and the backing plate can each be flipped 180 degrees, so can be installed two ways. In each case only one way works properly. Once I had that sorted out the lock was easy to install. I only needed simple hand tools (pliers) to finish the job.

Installation was easy with the help of reviewers John and Kevin and watching the YouTube video "HON F24 & F28 Lock Kit Installation". I was unable to totally remove the drawer due to a space issue but still able to install with the drawer emptied. I did have to turn it 180 and reinstall to get it right. Very happy to have a lock on the HON filing cabinet. It fit perfectly. Thank you reviewers!

I have been needing to replace the lock for a while but, I knew it would not be easy. File cabinets locks are difficult to replace.
