It has a 4" clearance to keep a good draft under the firewood, and holds the small pieces of firewood on the grate for a hot, complete burn. It is great for use indoors or in your outdoor fireplace, as the stainless steel hold up well in adverse weather conditions. A hand-forging process produces a well-fabricated grate that is made to last . This grate has 6 bars and measures 22" Wide in the front x 16" Wide in the back x 16.25" Deep.

We burn a fire every day, often all day, throughout the winter. We typically have to replace our grate twice a season, even 1inch bar. Not this grate. It has not even started to bend, or distort, after 4 months of near daily use. Would highly recommend and would buy again.

Excellent high quality product! Emits a lot of heat also from the fire. Will last longer than cast iron equivalent.
