This is like a giant tea filter, but for the hops. It has really fine mesh, so it reduces the chance of a hazy, when trying to make a nice clear beer. It has a thoughtful design - the lid has a gromet thing on it so that you could attach a wire to pull it out, but it is big enough to easily fish out with my big brewing spoon, even when the mash is boiling away. Before this we've been using a fabric bag, and this filter / strainer is easier to use, tidier and probably more hygienic. A good addition to the brewing kit.
