The Shoxil Stainless Steel Spam Musubi Mold is a great tool for making your SPAM-based snacks and bento items. The mold is for forming the sticky rice which is the foundation of the musubi. Once formed, you can add your SPAM and nori or pretty much anything you want. I like the stainless steel mold better than my old plastic molds. I gave it the Japanese wife test - She likes it and gives it her seal of approval.

My husband loves spam musubi so I make it for him occasionally, but it’s not my favorite because it is so hard to mold it correctly, even with a plastic mold. This mold has made that so much easier to really pack the rice down so that it stays together. The only thing I didn’t love is that the part you press on popped off while I was using it and it took me a while to figure out how to put it back on, and then it took me a while later to figure out how to take it apart to clean it. The good news is, it can be done! The secret is the spring: to put it back together, smush the spring down on the little metal pin and then you can screw the top onto the pin. To clean, just unscrew the top and then the rest of the mold comes apart easily. Anyway, I would have probably given this 5 stars if I had had this instruction but as it stands I love this and am so glad I got it :)

I wanted to like this mold, but it makes an awful screeching sound when I use it. I had to take it apart to clean out the rice gunk and I could not for the life of me put it back together. Avoid this product.

I like using this musubi maker a lot. Once you stack in your ingredients (making sure to oil first) and get it all packed in there, all you do is push it out. This product makes it easy to do and much quicker. It comes apart for easy cleaning. I am handwashing mine but that is what I do with a lot of my kitchen hardware. I can see using this for other unique dishes that you may want to make for parties or holidays. Anything you can stack into this musubi maker would work. I changed from seaweed papers to rice papers and like that even better. You could do a lot of experimentation with this.
