I love the stand-up handle because it seems to provide extra sturdiness, however if there is any liquid on the spoon, it drips down the handle if you stand it up! I'll stick to a spoon rest between stirrings :-)

Fine accessory if you, like I did, purchased a rice cooker with no paddleholder. The paddle plate on this item is thinner, sharper and has more raised dots than the usual white plastic rice paddle. Needs more careful cleaning as it tends to retain rice film. It stands/leans against our small 3/5 cup cooker and never has to take up space in a drawer. Looks great, the woman finds it charming, and it's as sturdy as the best rice paddle you'll find anywhere. I would recommend it and its seller who sent in the package a traditional gift treat/snack and a message from his little daughter. It's a love thing!.
