I'm in the process of converting my car from carb to fuel injection. The area around the rear of the engine to the firewall is TIGHT. After stripping the housing for the big canister, I opted to reroute my sensor wire down to where there is an existing port for the oil pressure switch. It works great. (Car is an 85 Trans Am with 350).If you go this route, you'll need to source the corresponding harness connector. I was lucky enough to have one in my bin of junk parts. Spliced it in and the gauge and switch both work great.

Was having issue after I shut off my 89 camaro fuel pump would keep running, sometimes overnight killing my battery. Changed this out, no more running after car was shut off. Was pretty simple to change. Hardest part was clipping the connector back in after install. Not much room to do it.

89 Pontiac is what I put this in. It seems to work fine. The original was metal and had a flat face. This is a little tapered but work right now. Threading it in was a bit trickery at first, I checked the threads they matched then got it to thread in on second attempt. I bought a fabric heater shield to prolong the life being next to the exhaust manifold. Works good so far.

This is the correct "three pin" oil sending unit / oil pressure switch that sends a signal the oil pressure gauge for third gen f-bodys. Fits my 1992 Camaro RS.

This is the correct part for my application. When I connected it, my fuel pump turned on - with the key off and removed from the ignition. Grabbed the shop manual and Google. This sending unit operates the gauge, and it will shut off the motor if there is no oil pressure. It will also function as a secondary power circuit for the fuel pump. So something inside this part was either wired wrong or the internal switch is stuck in position.I managed to track one down locally. Identical part, identical part number. Installed that one and it worked fine.
