I Installed this item on my 2002 volvo v40. The first one i recieved was defective and kept the blower running at all times. I had to pay return shipping for that one and then i was sent a new one. The new one works perfect, i do not understand why i had to pay to ship it back when it arrived defective though...

I bought this part for my 2003 Volvo S40 because my blower fan was changing speeds erratically un-commanded. I was only working a part time job at the time and did not want to buy an OEM part, so I bought this cheaper part instead. It did not fix the problem, so I assumed that this resistor was not faulty, but another component in the system. I spent about the next 2 years troubleshooting here and there, and changing parts when I had the time and money. I had pretty much changed every component in the system (besides wiring) with no results, when I decided to start over and buy an actual Volvo OEM blower motor resistor ($100). Boom that fixed my problem. Moral of the story, don't buy cheap car parts on Amazon.

Fan was erratic and did not respond properly to changes to the speed nob. After 2 months the fan completely stopped and would not blow any air. Swapped out this part using an online tutorial - took about an hour. If i knew what i was doing i could have done it in 15 minutes. [...]

Good replacement. Looks pretty identical to OE. Both made in Mexico. Fan was going up and down when when at 3/4 speed settings. All good now.
