I bought this so that I could add it to my camping/hiking supplies as it looked to be an all-in-one tool and I've been though a few similar items that just didn't do the job. It's the best thing as it's super strong and durable since it's made of real metal, so you know it's going to handle the great outdoors, and I would definitely recommend this tool for anyone that does small camping to extra outdoor living. You're not likely to find a better deal and it's a money saver.

As others have mentioned, the tools don't lock into place. It's heavy and feels sturdy in the hand. Haven't used it but it feels of good quality with the exception of no locking. Case is cheap and mine came attached to a cardboard backing with plastic 't' loops pierced through it. The holes are visible and the material is quite thin. But great price and great delivery time. Would order again.

This tool is great for everyday use as well as for camping or helping a friend, etc. Keep one in your car. Great for a Christmas stocking stuffer, Father's Day, Birthday, etc I find it handy for crafts. The saw is great for cutting cardboard and other similar materials. They all extend very easily and you even have a small axe to grind (lol, I couldn't resist)

I'm very happy with this purchase! As both an outdoorsman and a maintenance worker this is a cool well made device for many situations. Handy for emergencies like car repairs or boats and other things where a good multi-tool would be usefull. Blade edges will need honing but for this price its a great item. I'm going to buy several more for both vehicles, my tackle box etc. Cool gift idea also! Great buy!

Stansport Camper Tool was Christmas stocking stuffers for my teenage grandson and my son. The "boys" love their toys and love to go camping. My grandson was elated about the compact axe and saw for chopping /sawing branches for campfires. This little tool has not only an axe and saw but also screwdrivers andwrenches all in one tool. Perfect gift for campers!!!

Much as I hate "well I haven't used it yet" reviews, I haven't used it yet. I hope not to need it much, it's a backup to other multitools I own because it adds the hammer and axe. First impressions are that it's heavy and tough, there's weight to the hammer and axe and they don't seem as awkward as they might look on screen. I feel I'll be able to rely on this in a certain type of situation and for this price, there's no argument. I didn't remove the protective top on the axe - unless I'm about to use it, why would I? Unless I wanted to run my finger along the blade, which doesn't seem wise, that is. So I can't say whether it would fall off or not but it didn't arrive loose. if it becomes loose, I'd think taking it off and applying a little hot glue and allowing it to dry as a seal would do the trick. No biggie and sure not worth sending it back and honestly can't see why anyone would make a big issue of it.EDIT I decided to try out the hatchet now, before I got into a situation where I needed it. Disappointingly, it was totally blunt. I could easily run a finger along it and not even feel an edge, and it wouldn't make an impression on a small branch at all. So I knocked two stars off my original five-star review. I haven't tested the knife yet but I'm not expecting that to be much different, now.

We bought these to include them in our emergency go-bags. I wanted something small and compact. This is a little on the heavy side but considering all the tools it's a great addition to our emergency bags. I like that it comes with a carrying pouch. The quality of the metal is really nice; not flimsy at all. The blades are good and sharp.

I just took this on a ten day camping trip through Montana and Yellowstone and it did great for the few things I used it for. The hammer was just heavy enough to pound in some large tent stakes, and the pliers worked great for pulling them back out of the ground. The hatchet blade was sharp and easily cut through some roots sticking out of the beach we camped on. The blade cover for the hatchet though will probably fall off and get lost, which is one reason for only 4 stars. I almost lost mine twice and almost cut myself once because it had fallen off. The other reason for one less star is the blade on the knife had absolutely no edge and was never sharpened at all. But the bottle opener worked great! Those were the only tools on it I used during my trip, but for $10 I highly recommend having one in your pack!

This is very well made and substantial. It is heavy though. I will be using it in my camping trailer and I will be ordering it again for an emergency bag I keep in my car. The saw looks like it will actually saw and there is good weight to use the hammer. The hatchet is very sharp and weighty. I actually think it would be valuable in an emergency situation. The bag that comes with it is junk and it doesn't even fit right so ill toss that and figure something else out for that. This is an excellent value.

8/28/15 update: used this tool on a recent camping trip. It worked like a charm. Our camp neighbors even used the pliers to pull up their tent stakes.Original review: This is the mother of all multitools! Although I haven't applied this tool to any real life tests, my first impression is that it's well made. The overall tool fits well in the/my hand. The individual tools appear to be forged steel and has substance and some weight to them. Albeit the tools are compact in size, you can tell that when you use the hammer head it's actually going to pound an object with some force. Each tool is well calibrated to move into the open position and stay put in the closed position. I'm most impressed by the sharpness of the bladed tools. (I tried to capture the sharpness in the pics.) They're really sharp and appear that they (the knife and axe tools) can be sharpened as needed. You'll definitely need to keep the sheath on the axe for safety. You may have to replace the sheath with something a little more secure as it tends to slide off easily. I like the way the tool fits in my hand. Stansport took the time to craft each tool to fulfill its genuine purpose and to meet consumers needs. I've done a lot of research and have purchased a few multitools. I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this one. It's not the lightest tool in tool shed (particularly for backpackers) but it's certainly worth its weight in an emergency or outdoor/wilderness survival situation. Think 127 Hours, the movie...if the character played by James Franco had this tool, there would be no movie because "the job" would've been done in one hour. That's how tough this tool is! This is definitely a keeper for the long haul. No regrets. (I don't ordinarily take product pics but this gadget is so cool!)
