It is in appearance just like new old stock military surplus without the smell.

Getting ready to do a little rockhounding. I needed small bag. This is rugged, and just the right size for me.

I always like having some extra items with me, this bag lets me do that and add a unique look too. It isn't too big but a great size for carrying my water bottle, some small gadgets, an extra shirt, sometimes sneakers, and still having some extra storage capacity. Ya it's old school, so the straps take a minute to open them both to access the whole thing, but it's nice to experience that too, no zippers. The canvas quality is nice like other stansport products, has convenient pockets on both sides, and a divider inside. I did also buy canteen kit that hooks up to the outside using the older attachment style, but sometimes find it to bulky so have it removed for now. Although it is a good way to free up space from inside the pack. Don't see myself buying another for myself, but happy with my $23.34 purchase.

Great bags, very sturdy, love the old-school metal closure hardware instead of the cheap plastic that other manufacturers use. This bag would be improved if they had a version with a bungee cord closure at inside top, but no complaints. It’s a great bag.

But, I don't think that this is a musette bag. To my knowledge, a musette is a shoulder bag with a single shoulder strap. This is a backpack - two straps and worn on the back. A World War II veteran might call it a ruck sack, and that's what I bought it for. The activity of rucking is carrying a weighted backpack. The bag is made of heavy weight canvas, and the seams are solid and tight. I'd purchase it again.

Great kit for the outdoors. Kept things reasonably dry in rain. Canvas is sturdy and easy to just toss in washing machine. Great value for money.

For the price, it is a nice little canvas daypack: My intended use is as a costume accessory in conventions-I have one of a similar make and it is perfect for con use-carrying a light jacket, extra batteries for a camera, a water bottle or two, and other things. Now for the military buffs: this is a replica of the US WW2 Bag, Canvas, Field, M1936 "Musette" bag. In other reviews of it, people have stated that linking the straps together to make into a slingable bag isn't the most comfortable-witch is true, because there is actually another strap ( the "General purpose" strap) that is used to make it into a shoulder bag.Overall, not bad at all, good accessory for costume use.

I got one of these to go with the saddlebags Stansport also sells, color match was spot on. The straps use an old style clasp system, you have to put the metal end of the strap in at an angle to pass it through the buckle. Once down, it's very tight, meaning that you're more than likely going in from the sides as apposed to opening the flap like we're used to, but since the design dates back to before the great war, i can give it a pass.biggest complaint in the included rope for tying the side flaps down likes to fray. Easiest remedy is to take some sewing thread and add a whipping knot to the end, or be weird like me and dip it in candle wax to keep the end from fraying. These are great for re-enactors, and if the commonly bought together section is to be believed, rock collectors. It's a light to medium duty canvas bag. It looks good, and is remarkably inexpensive.

I've had and used this bag for cycling around the city for 5-6 years now. It's compact, but still big enough to fit my water, tube and mini pump for my rides along with anything I pick up while out (small grocery runs, 12 packs of beer/soda, any type of small shopping I happen to do). The one I still use has faded and weathered a bit over the years but is still strong as ever. My favorite bag for sure. Saw them on sale and bought two more so I'll never have to worry about not having one.

I bought this bag as a simple day pack for hiking. It has a lot more room than I thought it would. I can carry a few ponchos, something to drink and snack on and still have room left over for other stuff if I need it. The side pockets snap shut so I can put stuff like mosquito head nets and bug spray in there and leave it there, so I always have it. There is also a large snap pocket on the back to put things you want frequent access to like maps and a compass. The straps and hardware are bittersweet. As others have stated the straps that close the flap are too big to fit thru the buckles. I remedied this by bending the metal ends from flat to a slight curve reducing its over all width. This is working pretty well so far.The shoulder straps are a bit thin. I prefer to wear it as a shoulder bag, cross shoulder, by buckling the straps together. At 6’ tall with an average to thin build, if one strap is at full length and the other is at its shortest, the buckles that connect the straps together reside in the middle of my chest and the bag rests in the small of my back. If there is any significant weight in the bag the strap starts to cut into my shoulder after an hour or so. The buckles on my chest aren’t a problem but then again, I’m getting a little chubby in my old age and the extra fat tends to go straight to my boobs first, so maybe that’s helping to keep the buckles from wearing on me. The adjustment in the straps works well and I can switch shoulders in seconds if necessary. To wear it as a backpack also works but it feels funny as there isn’t the typical cross buckle to pull the straps in like there would be on most back packs for hiking. So far, I am very happy with this bag. I wish the shoulder straps were wider but for $15 it’s a great little grab-n-go bag to keep in your car for whenever the opportunity to hit the mountains presents itself and can carry extra supplies should my girlfriend come along too.
