The Starrett 117D center punch with round shank is 4" long and has a 5/32" (4 mm) diameter tapered point. The punch is made from hardened and tempered steel, which provides wear resistance and strength. The round shank is knurled for grip.
Center punches make small dimple marks in a workpiece to help guide a drill bit. Manual center punches have a metal shank with a point and are typically tapped with a ball-peen hammer to mark the material. Automatic center punches have an internal spring mechanism that enables them to mark the material without using a hammer, leaving one hand free for steadying the work.
The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company, founded in 1880, is headquartered in Athol, MA.

Ich habe den Körner einmal benutzt, um eine abgerissene Schraube zum ausbohren zu körnen und die Spitze ist stumpf. Für Metall leider ungeeignet, bei Holz sehe ich kein Problem.

I'm not a machinist so forgive my ignorance, but I typically fought a wandering drill bit when trying to drill through steel plate. I watched a video on YouTube where someone rated center punches and this brand rated very good. I just finished a project where this punch did its job. It left a nice hole that I was then able to use to start a drill hole. I wish I knew about these sooner.

Bought these to mark kydex before drilling. They work great. The tip of a Brad point drill bit fits perfectly into the indent left by the punch, allowing for exact placement of the hole. They are very well made. Will probably outlive me. Also, they are made in the USA, for those who care about that sort of thing.
