Starrett tools are some of the best money can buy. This caliper is no exception as it is well made of quality materials. It is comfortable to adjust and use. If precision and quality are important, this tool will deliver both for a lifetime.

Absolutely professional precision instrument. Using it properly and with the right touch, you can feel dimensional differences of 0.001" on round stock turned on the lathe. It has to do with the shape of the caliper, its inherent spring tension, and tip shape that gives it this property. I was using China and India import calipers starting out in my shop, because of cost. After getting this one from Starrett and using it for measurements, I chucked the import ones right out in the garbage. You'll have this one for the rest of your life if you don't mistreat it.

You need to adjust the title as it does not match the true product description. The title states this is a 12" caliper yet the description accurately identifies it as a 6" caliper. I was mislead by the title and order this caliper expecting a 12" unit. Please update your Title.
