I bought this Rack Mount PDU because I needed something to organize the electrical chaos that is my home lab. With all the servers plugged in, my power strip was starting to resemble a raccoon's idea of a good time—chaotic, messy, and likely to cause an electrical disaster. Enter this PDU, which turned my disorganized jungle of wires into something that looks like it belongs in a high-tech command center.This 1U power strip is a game-changer. The 8 outlets give me enough power for all my gadgets, and the outlet on/off switches? Genius. Now I can turn off devices without digging around behind the servers, which feels like I’m controlling a tiny dragon army. It's the kind of power I’d imagine a dragon would have over their hoard of treasure, except mine is more about routers and firewalls and less about gold coins.The 15A breaker gives me peace of mind knowing that if my devices decide to have a meltdown, I’m covered. The 8ft cord is long enough that I can set this thing up without feeling like my outlets are playing a game of “let’s see how far we can stretch before it breaks.”And let’s not forget the TAA certification, which I assume means this thing is so well-made, it could survive a skunk-induced disaster. I'm very impressed by this rackmount power strip. I've been shopping for one on-and-off, and was having a hard time deciding on one. When I finally got this one, it seems to be exactly what I was looking for.It's clearly a solid, well-made unit. It mounts smoothly, it has a long, nice cord.The outlets on the back are also nice quality, and are spaced with a good compromise between giving some space to plug in, and still fitting a lot of them. I have still needed to use a little mini power extender dongle to fit one of the things I have plugged into it, that has a really bulky wall wart. But anything short of that plugs in readily next to each other.I'm particularly enamored of the separate power switches for each of the outlets. They make it easy to power off or power cycle things individually, which is useful if you want to be able (especially for other family members to be able) to reboot a router or modem or the like.They're well designed -- they light up when they're on, and they have a snap-down protector to prevent accidental toggling.I'm straight up delighted to have this in my rack.

I recently purchased the StarTech.com 8-Outlet Horizontal Rack Mount PDU, and it’s been a solid addition to my server setup. The individual on/off switches for each outlet are a game-changer, making it easy to control power to specific devices. The 15A circuit breaker gives me peace of mind, and the 1U rack design fits perfectly in my 19-inch rack. The 8ft cord is a nice touch for flexibility. My only minor gripe is that the switches don’t have a locking mechanism, which could prevent accidental toggling. Overall, a reliable and well-designed power strip for data centers or server rooms!

It seems to work as expected and it doesn't seem to heat up the cabinet much at all.
