The winder is super cheap and the metal piece that holds the yarn moves like crazy and causes the yarn to get stuck in the gears underneath. I do not recommend getting this for the winder. I didn’t try the rest of the package but it did look like nice stuff.

I'm laughing over here; my sister crochets, and the dogs get into her balls of yarn, making it into loose, tangled messes. Using this today, I swear I felt like I worked at a yarn factory, making these super neat, professional, small balls of yarn. They came out looking like I just bought them from Hobby Lobby. My sister has been stealing this from me to use to make knit hats for Christmas, and she says she loves it as well!! Guess I know what to get her for Christmas this year!

This is a simple, but nice yarn winder with plenty of accessories. I like that this is one piece and attaches easily to a table. It makes perfect yarn cakes. It is the perfect size not too small or large. It also comes with a great set of crochet hooks and a beautiful crochet yarn bowl. I highly recommend this set. It also would make a great gift. I actually prefer this one over a more expensive yarn winder. It is a great value!

I've been dying for a yarn winder and a yarn bowl since I started crocheting earlier this year, but both can be so expensive on their own. This is a great kit if you don't want to take the plunge on pricier items. The bowl will fit most average sized yarn cakes — the only thing I haven't been able to fit in there are super chunky yarns (understandably). The yarn winder works fairly well, although there a few cons. The clamp on it is horribly thin and doesn't clip to any surface I own, so the winder constantly ends up flying off my desk/table whenever I'm winding. It's also quite short, making the yarn get a bit messy once you're reaching the end unless you carefully guide it around the cake yourself. I've had more than a few times where the yarn ends up wrapping and tangling around the base and getting completely stuck. But it does the job once you get used to it, and I've used it to cake most of my yarn collection.I also LOVE the crochet hooks. They feel so much comfier in my hands than the regular metal hooks without a grip on them. I haven't noticed any major hand pain since switching to these. The crochet rings it comes with are alright. I've tried using them a few times because I suck at keeping consistent tension, but I find it difficult to keep the yarn moving through the ring.Overall, I'd highly suggest this to beginners in fiber arts!

This is for someone going from beginner to intermediate crochet or knitting, and overall I'm fairly happy with this kit. I really got it for the yarn winder since I've never used one before and I always re-roll my skeins before a project. The winder itself works well, its definitely for smaller skeins, but I made it work with 482yds each of 4 and 5 gauge yarn. The 5 gauge yarn had to be splint into 2 cakes, but I did get the 4 gauge into one cake. The guide rings work well and are easily adjustable, but I am wondering if prolonged use will cause my finger to turn green. The hooks are an odd shape for my hand personally, but they are made really well. I am a little disappointed in the bowl, it's a great size and beautiful color but the areas where you feed the yarn through are incredibly rough. I got a splinter they were so rough, luckily I have some sandpaper to try and smooth that out a bit.

I'm giving this (update: four) stars for one reason: the yarn bowl is absolutely beautiful, much nicer than the photo here makes it appear. It's got a flat bottom and is dark mahogany toned, measuring about 6.5" across. I'm going to be able to put a pretty darn giant yarn cake into this and use it with ease, which is something I don't take for granted since even small yarn bowls can be $$$$$$ at the big box store. It doesn't have any rough edges that I can detect which might snag yarn.I'm an advanced fiber artist so I already have a million hooks for comparison - these are - fine. Personally I always like having a different form factor on hand because the material you're working with does make a difference. I'll probably use these for heavier yarns like cotton. Some people really like the flat handle which does make it easier to hold especially for folks with smaller hands.The winder is probably not the most well made thing I've ever seen. The clamp on the bottom doesn't come out as far as a couple of other ones I own - it only opens about 1" so this will be a problem if your table is larger. It does roll really smoothly, better than another one I own. It wound up my test yarn with no problem. UPDATE: I wound up throwing the winder away. It has a gear in the bottom that catches yarn very easily and the only way to get it out is cut the yarn or rip it to shreds trying to pull it back up over the gear. Between this and the shallow table clamp - Not an option. I'm still giving this set four stars based on the bowl, but spend the money and buy a name brand for the winder - you won't regret it.This set comes in a nice shoebox size box so it'd be suitable for gifting for the beginning crafter in your life. I'd say this is a pretty good price, around $45 as I type this. I'd probably have included a set of stitch markers instead of split rings but you can get stitch markers for almost no money at any craft store so not a big deal.I'd order this again and would be interested in other products from this manufacturer.

It makes winding yarn so easy! I use the yarn bowl every single time I crochet and I adore it. It’s so smooth and beautiful. The winder is high quality, and easy to use. The ring is adjustable and makes keeping your yarn tension correct easier as well. It’s just a great set that’s made my life easier. It’s a great value with everything in it.

I need to buy a yarn swift before I can use this, but it seems to turn smoothly. Is easy to attach to a shelf or table and seems high quality.
