I recently made the switch to cooling comforter, sheets and pillow cases. I had a memory foam special pillow I use for my back and it had a bamboo cover that was super hot. One day while browsing Amazon for bedding I came across this cooling pillow case that was available in a standard size so I decided to order it.Once it arrived it was I was eager to try it out. Now when I was ordering the cover even though the size was a standard the measurements listed were a bit larger, so I was hesitant to even order it, but I did anyway. When I pulled out the cover from the box I realized that it was a standard size and fit my pillow perfectly. The fabric is soft and cool to the touch if inside air conditioning room. When you wash it, becomes even softer, but your not suppose to dry it in the dryer, but hang dry it for optimal results. I love the way it keeps me cool at night, since going cool, I have turned my air down about 4 degrees Celsius which also reduces my energy consumption. The fabric is a bit more slippery then your normal cotton or bamboo.. but totally worth it.

There was no noticeable factory smell, though I still let it sit for 24 hours before use just in case. It does a pretty solid job of not getting hot during use. However, this pillow protector, when your head rests against it, sounds like plastic crinkling, which is far from ideal when you are trying to sleep. Unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me as I sleep on my side (ear against the pillow) but if you sleep on your back or front this may not be an issue for you.

I love this pillow protector! This will extend the life of my pillow and while it's not that comfortable to sleep on, I simply put on another pillow case to make it better. It didn't come with an obnoxious smell but I washed it anyway before putting in on my pillow. It washed up nicely and is now giving me great sleep.

It's actually 'cold' when you first lay your head on it. I sleep with my arm under my pillow and having both sides hot is hell when you get night sweats. The coolness of this pillowcase is downright amazeballs.

This is a nice pillowcase. It is a bit cooler to the touch, but doesn't necessarily last that long... so I'm not sure on the overall benefit.
