I have used this incubator to hatch chickens for my classroom 2 times. The first time I had no issues with humidity. This time I feel like the reader wasn't working and the last 2 weeks the alarm would go off every 5 minutes. I would turn the alarm off and by the time it went off again the humidity would be 5 off in either direction without touching it. Now let's get to the death trap part. The edges of the shelf are not flush and create an edge around it. The first time I did not realize this and 5 chicks fell through the crack and drowned. This time I cut pieces of cardboard up and put them over all the cracks and laid a paper towel on the shelf to hold it in place. My last little chick was flopping around and dislodged the cardboard cut out in the 10 minutes in between checking on it and managed to flop its head down the crack and drown. I would not recommend this incubator AT ALL!!!!!!!!I included a picture where you can see the yellow cardboard I placed along the edges.

Bought about 10 months ago and was thrilled with how the temp and humidity stayed constant, compared to my old one. First hatch was rare duck eggs. 36 in, all but one drowned in their shells and died. Too much humidity with no way to control it. Subsequent hatches were less than 50%. Just fired it up for the season/second chance, again with rare eggs. The humidity won’t stay below 50% and the temp won’t get above 33. Also, setting off the alarm constantly, driving me nuts! There should be a way to disable that thing. Stick to the old school styrofoam ones if you want living chicks. I bought 2 (dumb) and wish I could get my $ back.

I purchased an Oops brand, but it was the same machine. First I lost three valuable goose eggs, then I tried 56 chicken eggs. Hatched three successfully. We have successfully hatched both in a smaller incubator. What I noticed was that temps and humidity were all over the place, not staying constant, and varying from one spot to another. First candling over 25 eggs fertile eggs not developing at all. Of the remaining, we had 3 successful hatched eggs. On lockdown, the humidity condensed across the cover so badly we couldn’t see the eggs yet the humidistat was a little low. The plastic bottom where the chicks hatch bowed to the center. The heater was under the center middle of this floor possibly overheating eggs above it. There is a gap large enough all the way across the front for chicks and small birds to get stuck. Found one chick with its head in that space. Placed a folded paper towel across there and the heater wouldn’t turn off until I removed the paper. The overflow is center bottom so any excess water flows from under the machine all over the counter and on the floor. When you go to carry it to clean it, water sloshes all over from the awkward overflow drain. I can’t recommend this type of incubator. By the time I knew it was already too late to return and the brand was no longer offered on Am.

Everything that could be wrong with a incubator- this has.Temp and humidity is way off. The lid doesn’t stay on well and the hole to enter the water just makes the humidity drop constantly.Hatch rates are terrible, I made a fb post in a incubator group asking about this incubator and about 50 people commented and most said they immediately threw it away after killing all their eggs. This 32 egg one like this is even worse, the chicks will drown in the water chambers. Terrible design.

I did not buy this from Amazon, however; a few things you need to know. This incubator is great - except the candler is worthless bc they all turn on at the same time, lighting up the room therefore you can’t see anything. Also - the chicks get stuck between the “mesh” floor through giant gaps between it and the wall. Have almost lost 2 because they were stuck completely and one was almost cut in half - had to get the screwdriver and unscrew it with the lid open which obviously screwed up the humidity since this happened to the first Few chicks hatched and still had more to go. It must be lined with paper towels. This is a very poor design.
