Direct fit to 2004 Forester X or XS. Replaced a very brittle and stiff PCV hose. Would recommend.

This was a perfect fit for the old one on my 2004 Forester 2.5 SOHC. The old one was a bear to get off because the PCV valve is buried 5" deeper on the block and surrounded by stuff that doesn't want us DIYers in there. Pulling from up top was the Chinese finger-cuff experience. Didn't want to cut it just yet. Thought about making a tool with small lip on it to pull up from the bottom. A longer screwdriver from underneath on the passenger side and threading it through an obscure opening popped the old one right off. If Subaru engineered it that way, that's pretty good!

This hose is used to connect the PVC valve (Subaru 11810AA040 ) to the intake manifold. Mine was cracked then broke when I removed it to replace the valve on my 2003 Impreza Outback Sport. If your PVC and hose has been in use for a while (years) I recommend getting this part for a trouble free installation. The fit is perfect and made the idle much smoother with a new valve and hose installed.

My old PCV valve hose snapped because it hardened over time and I tried to pull it off. If you're going to clean or replace your PCV valve, get this hose before you try. Another reviewer suggested it, and I ignored their advice. I had to wrap the old hose with duct tape to hold it together before getting a replacement. Don't be like me. At least have one on hand just in case.
