The thread on shark bite fitting also has a o ring design seal on the threaded portion of the shark bite. This results in idiot proof installation with regard to leaks.I am sure that these seals will never last as long as a good sweated fitting but when you have a house full of pex, snd the fittings are not behind a wall this stuff make plumbers obsolete.

I installed this a few months ago to prepare for the winter. So far with freezing weather it has not frozen or cracked. It was simple to install. Just drill a whole at least 1 1/4" to account for the bib. And fill it in with foam. You don't see it once you screw it in and foam fills the extra space so you don't get bugs or lost energy.
