Replacement freewheel. Easy to install. Not sure of durability but I’m sure it’ll last a long time!

the Freewheel that I recieved had no chrome finish on it. It was all painted black, and there is a model number on it that says SKA-1. This is not the product pictured in the description. I need a chrome finish, because it prevents rust. I am very dissapointed.

Here's the situation. The bike when I bought it had a freewheel with a 34 tooth seventh cog. Which really was useless, given my riding on exclusively on pavement and three front chainrings. So I wanted a road setup; and found it with a sunrace 13-25. And it was great. So great, I wore it out, of course, and needed to replace it. Which at the time, a couple of months ago, looked to be impossible. No 13-25 freewheel to be found anywhere in the US. Then. Not a Sunrace, anyway, and I didn't want to change suppliers. So, the 14-28. Ok, the first six cogs are one tooth larger then the equiv. cogs on the 13-25. But then, there's the 28 tooth cog. Jumping from 24 to 28 shifting on this freewheel is a rather large leap when you're on pavement and on most hills. It's a little too much for me. And the 14 tooth cog is also a touch too large, as well, requiring me to shift to the large ring on some downhill runs, I wouldn't have needed to shift to with a 13 tooth cog. So.... Given I'll wear this freewheel out in a couple of years, after I wear out a couple of chains, I'll be searching for that 13-25 again. But if I can't find it, this 14-28 will do.

I took a chance and replaced my 5-speed freewheel on a 1983 High Sierra with this one. worked perfect and needed no modifications at all. Bolt-on and ride!

Out of the box this freewheel is very loud when you cost and the ratcheting action starts and everyone walking down the street will now you are there. (when you stop pedaling but wheel still spins, noise is loud) There is any easy fix you need to add lubrication to the Pawls to the freewheel. Look up RJ the bike guy on you tube for info. I didn't use special bike lube, I just grabbed some 5w30 I had around and use a dropper to place it where necessary. It's worked great so far. The sound is really down to normal now. From what I was told by my local bike shop this is not uncommon and in most cases at least some lubrication is necessary with these types of parts.
