I converted an old 3x drivetrain to 2x10. I knew I wanted to go with a friction shift for it. This little shifter was a budget solution until I decided if I liked friction or not.I like friction.Overall this isn't a bad looking shifter, the top part looks nice enough with the silver d ring and chunky plastic lever over metal. It also works pretty well. What doesn't look the best is the mount. It's pretty cheap looking and for a side mount on a corner bar, the metal lump for the bolt and nut sits exactly where your hands rest on the horns. It's an easy fix though, just move the shifter to a flat spot on the bars. Since it's only shifting the 2 front gears I only need access to it when I'm moving into the smallest ring for super steep hills.Overall I like this and I'll upgrade to another nicer Sunrace but move this to my commuter bike. It's solid and it works well. It could be better looking.
