These boxes are a great size for my small dry flies and midges. I like the number of compartments and the added benefit of the magnetic bottoms. The magnets aren’t overly strong, but better than the open compartment boxes I had been using and easier than sticking the hooks in foam. They are nice and thin, so I can put a couple in my chest pack with ease. The only concern I have is the latch. It seems kind of light and loose. It’s latching and holding well now, but it’s still early. Even with that concern, I’d say two boxes for around $17 is a good value.

Magnetic fly boxes are 100% my go to for all flies except large dry flies. I hate sticking flies into the foam and having them slide out and end up all over my chest rig or wherever I have them saved. These magnet ones mean the flies aren't falling out of the box if you turn it to far to one side and you don't have to worry about making sure its stuck to the foam. There are several different size options - 12 compartment for smaller flies and 6 compartment for larger flies. They are waterproof so if you drop one in the water it will float so you can grab it quickly and not fill up with water.Only downside I had was that one box was wrapped in bubble wrap while the other was just wrapped in tape which left tape residue on it. Not sure if this is the shipper or the company so no stars deducted for that.

These bo c es are well made. They have pretty good clasps that I think will hold up if used with reasonable care. They are very slim, at 0.75 inches (which I really like.) They are fairly large otherwise (7.5x4.125 inches), so you'll need a decent size pocket to carry them. They have magnets in the bottom of each compartment, which work well to hold flies in place. That said, I prefer the better organization that can be had by using foam inserts. Fair value, though, if you like magnetic boxes.

My first impression is that these are heavier than I expected. This is my first magnetic fly boxes I have owned. They come in a set of two and I was surprised at the heft of the package. Of course, that makes sense that the magnetic material weighs more than just the foam inserts that most fly boxes have. After putting some weighted nymphs in them, I was pleasantly surprised to see the magnets perform. They keep the flies in place but they are not so strong that makes retrieving the flies difficult. It is a really good setup. I got these for the purpose of storing small flies, size 18 and numerically smaller. Keeping them in the foam keepers is challenging and they usually end up all scattered inside my the fly box. This magnetic box is the perfect solution to keep everything sorted without having to be so particular about how they get put away. I'm sure they'll work fine for larger flies too, but for my purpose, these are about perfect. An added benefit is I can store more flies per box than I can with my foam boxes. So my pack will be less bulky with these. That you get two low-profile fly boxes for the price of one standard foam fly box makes these a particularly good bargain.

Picked up this set of fly cases along with another that just had foam in the bottom. I ended up liking both for different reasons. They both seal really well and seem to be well constructed. This set has some really nice finish with curved bases for each compartment so you can easily slide things out. The base has a magnet in it to hold the hooks in place. This is a cool idea, but adds a ton of weight. These cases feel like they weigh twice as much as the other foam cases. That said, because they have magnets, they'll probably last longer than the foam ones.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with these, but they’re a solid upgrade over my foam boxes. The build quality is better than I figured for the price — they feel sturdy in hand, and the compartments have curved bases that make it easy to slide flies out without poking around.Magnets are the standout here. They hold everything in place, even small size 18s and below, but still let you grab flies without a struggle. Foam inserts never really worked for those smaller patterns — they’d either pop loose or shift around in the box. This setup solves that cleanly. They are a bit heavier than traditional boxes, but that’s the tradeoff for having magnetic bases. I don’t mind it — they still have a slim profile and fit easily into a chest pack. Bonus points for the clear lid, waterproof seal, and the little lanyard loop so they don’t disappear downstream if dropped. You get two boxes for the price of one foam box, so it’s a good value too. I’ll definitely keep using these for anything up to small streamers — they’re just a cleaner, easier way to manage small flies.
