Same exact belt issue as the other one star review. Out of the box, it only last 10 minutes til the drive belt started smoking and popped off the pully. Now dealing with customer service back and forth.Update: I received the larger belt from customer service, it now grinds a bit. Need to grind for ten minutes MAX then let it cool down for an hour. repeat. Taking forever to grind a single stump and I got three more to go. I'll update in a month or so when I get the job done. waste of money and time. Noticed all the 5 star reviews work for Amazon and got a free stump grinder? WTF?Update #2. used a total of two times. Once with the original belt and once with the free replacement belt they sent me. Both belts melted and do not allow the engine to start because the tension is too tight with the slightly used belt.I now have major tennis elbow pain from pulling on the engine to try to get it started. Too late to return since the customer service delayed responses, they know what they are doing to sell these defective units - do not be fooled like I was!Check the reviews on this link. Looks like they started a new link because of the previous bad reviews. This came mostly assembled, which was nice. All I had to do pretty much was to put the wheels and handle on which was pretty straight-forward. It was easier than expected to start up the first time. Interestingly, it was much more difficult to start up subsequent times. I think despite having adjusted the belt tension during assembly, after some use it needs adjusted again to be less tight, because even with the clutch disengaged the cutting wheel was spinning and I assume that's making it harder to start.Once it's running it did a good job against the elm stump we had. This elm in particular was incredibly hard and dense, but this grinder had no problem with it. It was kind of tricky since part of the stump was so close to the fence, but it worked out. The next weekend I took out 3 more stumps as well. Once this is started it's great, but like I mentioned, it was a lot harder to start after that very first time. But like I also mentioned, I think that's at least partially because I need to loosen the belt, but also because It's been years since I've needed to start a gasoline powered motor with a choke, like this. The process of grinding the tree stumps can be quite a workout, depending on how deep you want to grind. I wanted to go as low as I could to get as much of the stump out as possible, but the deeper I went the more difficult it was to handle. Once it starts making piles of loose dirt around its own wheels it becomes a big challenge to position it where you want it. I wondered if possibly bigger wheels might help with this, or maybe a dirt/wood chip diverter so it wasn't piling everything right underneath itself. The cutting bits on the wheel are carbide, I believe, which is a really good thing since they should last a long time. That does mean unless you're unusually well equipped, you probably won't be able to sharpen the bits yourself though. The rest of it is similarly tough and durable looking. Heavy, but heavy duty. I have no fear of this thing falling apart on its own. Everything is clearly welded or bolted together, with a minimum of fragile plastic pieces.Since this is my first and only experience with a stump grinder, and given the fact that my stumps are now ground down to nothing, I'd say it worked well enough and I can recommend it.

This stump grinder can be a decent machine. It's not something I'd suggest anyone bother with for commercial use, but if you have enough stumps to remove that you'll be spending multiple days doing it, buying this will probably be cheaper than the rental fees for a similar unit. The engine is solid. The frame isn't heavy duty, but it's thick enough for what it's doing. And the cutting disc does work well once you get things running properly. However, I've run into similar issues to the other reviewers. There are two that are standouts and could actually damage it if you don't correct them.- First, the belt from the factory is far too small. This will make it hard to start, cause the cutting disc to spin constantly which is a hazard, and will burn out the belt within minutes once you tighten the engagement lever. I loosened the engine mounting bolts and shifted it as far forward as possible, which helped a bit. I'm no longer fighting the belt when starting it, but it's still tight enough that the cutting disc spins even when it's not supposed to be engaged. It's not fully engaged and will slip if you try to cut wood with it, but there's enough resistance to cut soil easily. The only solution is to buy a larger belt. I'm currently waiting on delivery of a 51" and will see if I need to readjust the motor mounts for a proper fit.- Second, the cutting disc is mounted to an axle with two brackets, one on either side. Those brackets have non-sealed bearings in them with grease fittings. There was NO GREASE in them from the factory. Make sure you grease them before using it the first time or you will ruin them in short order.- An additional issue is that the tires do not hold air. I've filled them three times now, and they're flat within an hour. I'm just going to buy some solid polyurethane tires instead. These might seem like issues that would make you avoid this unit at all costs. However, for the price, you're getting a decent grinder. It's only half the price of most similar units, so spending some time and a few extra bucks replacing the belt and and tires, and lubing the bearings properly is worth it. The important thing is that the engine seems solid, as everything else on it is easily replaceable at relatively low cost.
