My A style mandolin fits perfectly. After reading the reviews on the mandolin cafe forum, I bought this Deluxe Superior CF-1521W case from Amazon to hold a very nice Collings MT2 O. This mandolin has the more modern neck that joins the body at the 12 fret and not the short neck length/body dimensions of the older Gibsons where the body joins the neck at the 10th fret. If you have an A style mandonlin with 14 frets clear of the body you should be fine too. This fiberglass case wasn’t intended to be a flight case and weighs half what a Calton/Hoffee case weighs. At 4lbs 5oz this case is light, (over a pound and a quarter lighter than the Collings case my mandolin came in), it’s compact, it’s well made and padded. The fiberglass is medweight and ridged enough to protect your instrument from the inevitable bumps when transporting it. The case has a real leather handle and black powered coated hardware, all the latches close securely and it also has attachment points for the included shoulder strap, the strap is adequate but on me it feels like it always wants to slip and it’s not very padded so you may want to replace it if you’re going to be doing a lot of walking and standing at bluegrass festivals. My case is the updated model with additional rubber feet/bumpers so when the case sits on its side it will stand up on its own, also the interior padding has been changed, gone is the diamond shaped pad that contacted the saddle on the older version, it’s been replaced with top padding that contacts only the mandolins rim when the case is closed. My mandolin fits sung, but an attached McClung arm rest and a small leather strap fit just fine, I don’t use a tone guard so I don’t know if that will work. The case has the typical small lidded storage compartment, good for a pick pouch and a small tuner, extra strings can be stored under the headstock. I’ve owned this case since 2018 and would recommend it without any reservations.

This is a case that is quite well made and fits an A5 mandolin very nicely. Not so good for the short necked oval hole mandolins, but can be made to fit with some modifications. Overall, quite happy with the purchase.

I know a few people who have this case and love it. I just got it and love it. Its not a Calton, but its not $600 bucks. It fits my 97 Flatiron A5 Reformer perfectly and I couldn't be more happy. Its light weight and fits the instrument right and the locks feel secure. I wish there was a little more storage room in the case; as of right now I can keep some picks, my strap, and a backup set of strings in with the mandolin but its tight. Beyond that, I think this case is a great case for a great price.

So why are A Style cases called A Style? Because the Early Gibson mandolins were A1 -A4. Does this A Style "Superior" case fit my 1917 A4 Gibson? Nope! Not even close. Get out the tools, rip out the pick compartment and move the neck supports, cut off 1/2 of the compartment cover and it fits. It looks a little crude but I am a leather worker and have the tools and adhesives on hand to make it better than new.Come on Saga, how lame can you guys be?! Make it fit the most popular mandolin in the world? The case is light weight and not as heavy or as rugged as a Calton, but it doesn't matter because I never check in my instruments. What was critical for me is that it is air tight, so I can keep the mando sealed against the dry Arizona humidity, with a humidifier in the case, and help it last another 100 years or so.So buy it if you are prepared to do some chopping and changing.

This case is very thin [could be crushed] and thought the mandolin fits, closing the case requires a little force and the edges don't line up that well. The case falls over when set on it's side.

Do not buy this case. When I purchased it I thought I was getting a standard A style mandolin case. When it arrived it did not fit a Gibson A-50 mandolin. The sides were too tight and the top would not close without causing damage (Obviously I did not force it that far). The TKL case I have been using for that mandolin is perfect but I wanted to get a fiberglass case.I ended up using it for a smaller non standard A mandolin.Shame on Superior for not testing the dimensions on this case before putting it on the market. I don't think I would ever trust a Superior case again.
