The whole thing feels solid out of the box and felt like it should be a good tool. It can be a bit fiddly to first line up, but once it's in place and tensioned it's easy enough to use. However, the sliding rods seem to be the weak point. I tried using it on the strut clamp that is integrated into the steering knuckle on my car, which is a hefty chunk of cast aluminum. The clamp didn't budge and the rods on the tool bent. This is better suited for thinner clamps don't try it with the thicker variety like I did.

Both sides come apart and are not captive.They will be easy to lose if one side falls off.Metal seems to hold up and well made.Small and portable
