STEP 1
Place the horn separator in the middle shock absorber ram strut
STEP 2
Use a 17mm wrench or socket to rotate to keep the slit open
STEP 3
When the adjustment is done,rotate the outer hexagon in the opposite direction and remove the tool

Flimsy sides, a screw driver did more work and a better job then this. Disappointed because I was only able to get one side done as I bought this to save time just for it to break

I love this tool it doesn’t work on all of them, but I did a Mercedes sprinter and it was able to help me get the Strat out of the knuckle

I'm kind of upset that I didn't know this existed sooner. Bought this to get off stubborn strut assemblies and, I kid you not, rust and all, this thing made them slide right off. Definitely worth having around if you ever think you might use it.

Bought this because it seemed like it would work and was priced affordably for a tool that is only needed once in a great while. Plus same day delivery.Got under the car and quickly learned the square design will not fit if the strut pinch bolt slot is than the width of the spreader mechanism. If it had been tapered I could have tapped it in. The whole point of needing a spreader is because the pinch gap needs to be widened. Not entirely sure what the point of this particular tool is. Ended up using a pneumatic chisel which widened the gap in a few seconds. Should have done that to begin with.

Unfortunately this isn't great quality. It's hard to keep a hold of. It's made of a softer metal so it damages easier.

I used to hammer a chisel into the joint on struts. I just did the fronts on my Transit and used this to spread the clamp on the steering knuckle before hammering on it to get it out. There's quite a bit of rust on my van so I had to hammer a few times just to break the metal loose. The clamp opened up easily though. This is a cool tool.

Definitely made life easier getting the strut to slide out of the knuckle compared to when I used a socket style spreader I used before.
