Your cart is empty. That philosophy was the intention of founders Jim and Jan Morris who saw an opportunity to create a better way to transport your bike back in the early 90’s. Swagman was one of the first companies worldwide to design and market a hitch style bike rack. Over the years, that small bike rack company based in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia grew to include numerous other ground breaking designs in the North American Bicycle, RV and Automobile markets.

This is a pretty nice bike rack. The pros are:It's easy to put togetherIt's sturdyIt folds up and out of the wayIt's easy to load the bikesThe cons are:The tilt release handle is in an awkward place and hard to access with bikes on the rackWhen I tilt the bike rack out, my Maverick tail gate still hits the bike rackThe rack is heavier than I would like since I have to remove it to get the Maverick in the garageFor added security you need to chain the bike to the rack because it wouldn't be much trouble removing the bikes even with the included locksFor me the rack is fine because I can load and transport my bike safely for my short trips very easily.

AMAZON ROCKS! THIS IS A GREAT VALUE! HARDWARE IS OK, AND THE LOCKS WORK WELL TO SECURE IT. YOU NEED A BIKE/MOTORCYCLE CABLE WITH HEAVY DUTY LOCK TO SECURE ACTUAL BIKES TO YOUR FRAME. IF THEY REALLY WANT IT THEY WILL UNBOLT THE BIG CENTER PIN. BUT THAT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN IN PUBLIC PLACES. AT A NATIONAL PARK--MAYBE IN SECLUDED LOTS. SOLID AND STURDY, SUPER EASY TO USE, AND VERY STEADY ON THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE HAD MANY BIKE RACKS--AND THIS ONE IS THE BEST EVER! THE METAL TRAYS FOR THE WHEELS ARE VERY SOLID AND IT FOLDS UP WELL. IT ALMOST DISAPPEARS, AND IN PLACE ---IT IS ROCK SOLID! THE TWO LOCKING TOP RAIL BARS WORK VERY WELL (VERY SECURE). BE SURE TO USE THE LOCK WASHERS OR SOME BLUE LOC TITE ON THE LOCKING HITCH PIN THROUGH THE RECIEVER TUBE. THE LOCK ON THE END SHOULD PREVENT THE LOSS OF THE PIN IF IT UNSCREWS AND BACKS OUT--THUS USE LOC TITE BLUE! USE IT ON EVERYTHING, YOU NEVER WANT TO LOOSE ANY BIKE RACK. IT WORKS FINE JUST THE WAY IT COMES--BUT LOCK ASHERS GET-- LOST. OHHH--YOU CAN DROP A TAILGATE OF A PICKUP, IN THE SWING OUT MODE, TAILGATE CLEARS ABOUT 4 INCHES OR MORE FROM THE BIKES ON THE MOUNTED BIKE SWING OUT, WITH AN EASY FLIP OF A STURDY LEVER. THAT IS AWSUMMMM TO GET TO YOUR ICE CHEST IN THE SUV OR TRUCK BED. THIS ONE REALLY IS A WINNER !!! ! SUPERB QUALITY AND VALUE. AMAZON ROCKS!!! WE LOVE AMAZON! WEAR A HELMET--WE HAVE BROKEN HELMETS OFF OUR HEADS ON TREES ON THE MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS. BE SAFE! YOU CAN'T GET REPLACEMENT BRAINS! CHECK OUT THE AMAZON COOGEO 2 BIKE RACK COVER TO PROTECT THE RACK/BIKES IN STORMS ON WAY HOME. GREAT PRODUCT!

Very sturdy and reliable carrier for my Tesla model 3. Didn’t like the roof rack so I did a research and found this product. It came with a locking hitch pin worth of $70. I like the tilting function very handy when you need to access to the boot although it can be accessed via rear seats. It has the locking hooks so you can leave your bikes without any worries. Reasonable price, good quality.

We used to have a Thule brand bike rack which was supposed to be able to carry two bikes. It was just terrible! There was no way we could carry two adult bikes without partially disassembling them. What a hassle! We purchased the Swagman Chinook Hitch Mount Bike Rack and are very, very happy! It is vastly superior to the Thule product we had and it's cheaper too. With the Swagman, it is very easy to move the bike tire holders around and this makes it easy to adjust the bike positions so that everything fits well. The bike rack is quite sturdy, it sits further away from the car than other brands, and it secures both the frame and the tires. Loading and unloading is very easy.We love this bike rack!

First off, this is a great rack. It feels extremely sturdy and is very easy to load bikes on/off and secure them. I regularly load things on the roof of the car and in the bed of a truck with other hitch attachments and often worry about how they'll do when on the highway. But with this rack, I have absolutely no worry about whether it's going to stay in place or whether the bikes will be safe because it feels that heavy duty and is secure to the car.I have used bike racks that sit on the outside/back of your car with various straps and never really liked that the bikes would just hang by the top tube with wheels moving. It is both more secure for them to sit/locked in the wheel tray and also have the upper locking handle than this other style of rack. I also love how you can keep the bikes in the rack and tilt it down so you can access your trunk. The only 'negative' thing I have to comment on is that for whatever reason, it was really brutal trying to get the rack into the hitch receiver of my car. I have a 1 1/4" receiver on my Tiguan and it took forever trying to get it inside, with paint scraping off the rack. I guess the upside to this is it will be really difficult to remove it, whether on purpose or by accident?Bottom line is, if I needed another rack, I would buy this one again.

I like to research things before I pull the trigger. I found a couple of Trek bikes I really wanted (Marlin 6) as I've been doing a lot of running, walking and going to the gym so this was a good way to change things up. The only problem was I didn't like the idea of one of those strap type bike racks on the back of my Rogue so I decided to look into trailer hitches. I ordered one online and it literally took just under an hour to install (had to have a torque wrench by the way) so my next step was finding the right bike rack. Well, I had been looking at some of the kind that grab the bike frame and the bike dangles as they looked the least intrusive but after further review and watching some videos, I started to lean towards the variety that cradle the wheels. The Swagman Chinook Hitch Bike Rack was more than I originally wanted to spend and I wasn't too sure of the craftsmanship, but it was a step up from the base Swagman XTC. I figured if I was going to get one and spend the money on decent bikes, I should at least get something mid-range to carry them. This decision was the right one. The rack folds away as you can see in the pictures and doesn't interfere with my backup camera unless it's loaded with the bikes. I added foam around the lock down clamps to protect the bike frames as other's have mentioned doing and it works great. Prior to that, I was using washrags to tie around the frames when I was loading the bikes. Assembly involved around just 6 bolts and was super simple and intuitive. I leave the rack on and fold away after every use and it is aesthetically pleasing to look at on the back of my Rogue. I abosolutely LOVE having locking arms on the holders as it makes me feel safer knowing someone can't just steal those pull down arms when the vehicle is unattended. Also, the stabilizing lockbolt that attaches to the tow hitch comes with the rack so it's a win-win. The quality of this rack is excellent and loading and unloading gets easier everytime I use it which is probably two times every week.
