I set up the first NAS without issue. The second would not power up. I tried to get an RMA through Amazon but was told I had to get one through Synology. Playing the Synology support ticket ping-pong back and forth with serial, pictures, copies of packing slips, etc... I usually don't have this kind of issue with Amazon. I need to check the Fulfilled By field on order; if not fulfilled by Amazon, I will probably go to B&H Photo, Lenovo, or some other reputable source. The 12 drives shipped with the two NAS units from Aventis Systems are incompatible with Synology, as the configuration software squawked when setting the units up. They do work in the NAS, but for the $1,200 or so that was spent on each of these units, Synology should have blessed the drives to work in these units.UPDATEI ended up shipping the unit off to Synology with an RMA. The Synology support staff was helpful, but I lost an hour of my life dealing with this. Moreover, there was a $495 fee if I wanted to receive the new device before Synology received my defective unit. This would have eventually been refunded to my credit card after Synology received the defective unit. However, this would have been another transaction on my business card that I would need to expense.Amazon has always been good about returns on defective products, but buying from Aventis Systems through Amazon adds another dimension I will be wary of moving forward. Amazon took my money, and Amazon should be on the hook for making it right.

Reading the specs it was not going to work with my clients systems after trysting to reach support and/ or customer service to ask about fees only got response to only fees. I returned item and there is a a hidden 18% restocking fee even if you return untouched. HORRIBLE experience with this seller.

Love the Diskstation but tech support from the seller (Aventis) is lacking. Upgraded the memory with 4GB chip as an option from Aventis for the Synology DiskStation DS620slim. It did not work after trying to install and calling tech support for help determining it was defective. I was told a replacement chip would be sent but that never happened and then after many inquiries they finally blew it off and said call the manufacturer about it. It was beyond 30 days so perhaps okay for them to make that call but if there is a warranty I feel that the seller should deal with it or be more helpful. I also checked on compatibility and the chip they sent me is NOT listed by Synology as being compatible with their system!! I also found out the 6 hard drives type they sent are not on the compatible list - they do work but if something goes wrong you are on your own as far as Synology is concerned. They are kind of sketchy in my opinion and would not buy from this outfit again so be careful. If you have any issues outside 30 days, they are probably not going to help. The Diskstation works great otherwise but I need to get another chip.

It's too bad the seller that ships the item includes Hard Drives that are not compatible with with this NAS. The user interface and everything about the Synology DS620 are awesome. The NAS in the short period I owned it was awesome, but knowing it shipped with incompatible bottom of the barrel WD Blue Drives was a deal breaker and unacceptable. Buy the DS620 without the drives and buy your own that you know are compatible.

I purchased the Synology DS620slim with 6GB of Ram and six 1 TB Solid State drives package. It was very easy to assemble. Configuration as a media server was straight-forward, although I did watch a few YouTube videos on Synology's Disk Station Manager software. It is very fast - maxes out my local 1GB network transferring files at 110 MB/second! The unit is a small compact device that does not take up much room on my desktop. Very pleased so far.

This little server was easy to set up, offers a great storage solution for my small team as we are all working remote, and is a nice small fo factor. I wanted to set it up in RAID mode, but I would have needed double the storage spice, and that was over my price point!

The 620Slim is easy to install and get up an running. Once it's up it's fairly trouble free, and there are a lot of nice apps you can run on it as well. My only gripes would be two: 1. I would have preferred it to have a bit more processing power and see it slow down a bit under heavy task loads. and 2. When I did need support they weren't very helpful. Overall I would recommend the product if you need a lot of storage in a small footprint.

After years with a Western Digital device and not getting what we paid for, We went with Synology DiskStation DS620slim iSCSI NAS Server with Intel Celeron Up to 2.5GHz CPU, 6GB Memory, Now I'm able to get onto my drive remotely without any issues. Western Digital was not able to set it up after several attempts. Happy so far getting ready to get another Synology but a bigger one..
