These crappy tail light guards stick out so far on the corners that they hit my hatch and scratched the paint when I tried to close the hatch after the install! Terrible looking welds, way looser than they should be and look like junk. I will be returning these low quality pieces of rubbish immediately.

Just look at the photo. Welds are terrible quality. The left tail light mounting bracket is welded about a 1/2 inch too high (different from the right tail light mountain bracket). Guards mount at different heights and trunk will not close. Tried bending brackets, but won’t work. And they want to charge me $8 to return. Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Avoid!!!

SUPER simple to install (...with just 4 screws). Solid (built to last). Looks great! Great purchase!I would buy it again, if I had another 4Runner.

Does the job well enough. The welds are abhorrent, but the paint job is nice.

I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner added the guard cover and love the look easy to install.

I really like how these perk up a 4Runner (mine's a 1999 Sport). They look great and add some bling look. My concerns with the item stem from the build quality of the part itself, and additionally from the fairly difficult job it has, given that it only has two mount points in this vehicle. The build quality became a disconcerting moment when it became obvious that I'd need to bend one of the mounting tabs a bit or the hatchback simply wouldn't close properly. I did that gently but quickly stopped when I heard the gross cracking sound I dreaded. Fortunately I stopped in time and the tab didn't break off, and what I had done was sufficient to let the hatchback close. That the cage has only two mount points is Toyota's gig, not TAC's fault. What I wish TAC had done was include adequate bumpers to brace the cage against the body where it wraps around the side of the light cluster. That would help it not float free, and would potentially keep one or both tabs from snapping off in a light collision with, say, a tree or a bag of groceries or a teenager running into it.Finish seems great, and I heeded the install advice to immediately wax them for protection. Nice product, but I'd classify it more on the decorative end of the spectrum rather than the rough-and-tumble. That's honestly what we were going for with this vehicle, so I'm fine with it.
