This short range infrared range sensor can be a useful addition to projects requiring this sort of functionality. It performs reliably and offers great value.

I needed a distance sensor for a project that I was working on. I needed to be able to accurately gauge the distance to a close-by object, and the Taidacent GP2Y0A51SK0F looked to be just what I needed (and more affordable than many other options!). I ordered it, and so far it has been working perfectly for my needs. Highly recommended for close-range distance sensing!

I was hoping to replace a $700 laser distanced detector with this (one can always hope). It was actually a lot closer to working than I thought it would be. The target is just too small to be detected consistently. An absolutely amazing product for the price but you will probably need to be looking at a fairly large object - I didn't test it but probably at least a couple of sq. ft (depending on distance) would be my guess.
