Looks like the old 60’s gear that was kinda flimsy; but this is super sturdy

Vintage hardware (mostly) sucks. They're bent, rusty, has cracked bushings, missing pieces, and broken adjustment screws. But a few drummers still insist on them because... let's face it, they want to look "cool", because it sure isnt better than today's offerings.Oh look, everyone is making vintage-inspired/flat-base hardware now. The HC53F is Tama's foray into the flat-base world. And they did a great job with it.1. It's light, like super light, nay, UltraLight.2. The adjustment screws and bushings are new, solid, and are not broken or rusted.3. The piping is not bent, and you her 3 tiers of them!4. It uses a standard 8mm top rather than the old 6mm, so this is less likely to get bet as well, and you can use virtually any modern cymbal nut on it. Tama gives you their round plastic nut, Iike this one a lot, though their quick release one would have been a nice addition.Ive tested a 20in crash, a 21" crash, and a 22" ride with this stand. It's a little wobbly but i couldnt get it to tip over, and I tried. It will hold a single cymbal and nothing else. You cant float a rack tom off of this, at least not a 12" one. Tama thought of that and they also make an ultralight tom stand, which is basically just a taller snare stand. That's about it. If you're going on tour or gig a lot, these might be a great option for you to cut down on weight. Especially getting on a plane.Another option: If you need something more heavy duty but still light, check out the Tama Roadpro Light stands. They're Roadpro stands but single braced instead of double, and Tama claims they're about 25% lighter than the double braced ones. I have a couple and can confirm they can hold. One of my Roadpro Light stand has a 20" crash, a 12" rack tom, a 16" crash/stack, and an iPad and is still pretty sturdy.4 stars for it not being able to hold anything other than a single cymbal. It might hold a cymbal attachment, but I havent tested that.

I was so looking forward to lightening my load with these. But as cool and light as they are, I can’t recommend them, they just creep too much if you’re hitting your crashes with any force. If you’re playing really soft/quiet then they’d probably be ok for that.As a side note, I also purchased the hihat and snare stand from this line and those have been fine so far.
