The 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD from Tamron is a superzoom lens ideal for photographers who want an all-rounder that covers virtually any shooting situation. Characterized for its 16.6x zoom ratio and a minimum focus distance of only 5.9", it brings Tamron's "all-in-one" philosophy to the Sony E audience at large. A fast and precise autofocus mechanism, Tamron's VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor, provides it with some of the best performance in its class, and it's aided by the proprietary Vibration Compensation system that supports stable photography even at ultra-telephoto focal lengths.

I bought this lense for travelling, so I can shoot both landscapes and some random small details on buildings, or things that are just to far and I won't get closer to them during that trip. I've tested it on two trips already and quite satisfied.Of course, being a jack of all trades it's far from being an ultimate lens for any occasion. It's not that fast even on 18mm, low light/indoor performance is not that great. But that's kinda expected from a zoom lense with this massive of a range. It's also heavy. Definitely heavier than my a6000s body. I'm kinda happy it's made of good quality plastic instead of metal. Cause don't even want to imagine how heavy it would be in that case.But still, I used to juggle between two zoom lenses with different focal ranges and that was annoying, I really love how practical this lens is. And photos made outside during while the sun is up look quite nice.Included kit is nice, that camera bag came in handy as this lense is quite long, I couldn't fit it (attached to body) into my old bag. Cleaning kit is kinda cheap, has redundant stuff, but it still is quite useful, does the job. I like that there was like a pencil case to store that kit.

I took this lens on a trip out west this spring. I found the range so useful that I never put on any of the other lenses I'd brought with me. It's big and heavy on a small camera like my Sony A6000, but I found that I was carrying the camera around by the lens because that's where the weight is balanced. Not an inexpensive purchase, but it will be my go-to lens for everything except low-light photography.

I just started taking pictures with this lens. I am very impressed with its zoom range. I haven’t studied the images in detail yet, so I cannot say whether or how much image quality is compromised in getting the fantastic zoom capability. It’s bigger and heavier than the kit Sony 18-135 zoom lens, so I’ll probably keep both and use the kit lens when I want the camera smaller and lighter.
