The most important thing to know if you're buying this bass is that it will require a complete setup - ie - a lot of adjustments - at least mine did. I've been playing bass for 56 years and know how to do this - if you don't, you will need a professional to do it for you. I had to adjust the bridge saddles to set intonation which isn't difficult. But I also needed to file the grooves of the nut to lower the strings - it was very difficult to play until I did this. I guess the manufacturers had to save money somewhere. But for $170 they gave me a beautiful bass created from fine materials. The body is painted well and the neck is beautiful - straight and very well-finished. It came with roundwound strings of good quality, but I put low-tension LaBella Flats on it. The tone controls have a nice feel, but the nuts securing them were loose and I had to tighten all of them. The tuners are of good quality and hold tuning well. So, although it was virtually unplayable as received, I'm giving it four stars because of the final result I was able to achieve - ie - overall quality of the materials for a very low price - especially the gorgeous neck and fretboard. Think of this as a bass guitar project. I spent $170 and a couple hours of work making the adjustments - something I enjoy doing and it's NOW a 4 star instrument.
