This is a really good microphone considering the price. Honestly, for spoken word which is my use case, it's one of my favorites. It's got plenty of mids and highs but not overly siblant. I think it would be fine for vocalist but I'm not sure how it would handle instrument recordings. I'm overall very happy with the mic and find I use it frequently, and I have many other more expensive options.

Worked great for my last gig. I mic'd up the bands small practice amps on stage and ran it through my mixer. It handled the little amps well and rejected the drum kit right next to it. It needed some EQ of course, an SM57 would have needed EQ too with how crappy those practice amps sounded, and it eventually sounded great through the PA. Very happy I didn't spend the money on the 57 and got two of these instead.

I use this mic specifically for a hi hat mic while recording drums and it works incredibly well. Nice full, non-abrasive sounding hi hats.

Took a chance on this one, and was not disappointed. The sound is clear, the construction is very solid, and the price is so good that I bought a second one soon after. If you’re interested in a well-made, general purpose dynamic microphone, don’t hesitate to get this one.

The Tascam TM-82 dynamic microphone is a sleeper hit in the mic world. It seems to have been released in late 2021, and has largely flown under the radar since. I bought one because I have a fascination (or is it obsession?) with dynamic (i.e. moving coil) microphones, and because Tascam is a brand I've always had good luck with. In general, I've found Tascam products to be affordable yet high quality, with a no-nonsense design philosophy that I really appreciate. So, aside from the eye-catching price, what's appealing about the TM-82? It has extremely good plosive rejection, the best I've personally experienced. (I own 8 or 9 dynamic microphones, ranging from $30 to $150, and I test all of them for plosive rejection, among other things.) Even more appealing is that the TM-82 has a frequency response that is quite similar to both the well-regarded AKG D5 and AKG D7. In fact, the TM-82's frequency response response seems *a bit* more neutral and smooth than those two AKG mics. I happen to own an AKG D5, and to my ears, the TM-82 has a slightly warmer, rounder, deeper sound than the AKG D5. And while the TM-82 has almost as much treble as the D5, the TM-82's treble is more natural sounding: silky and somewhat clinical, without being harsh or brittle. On paper, the frequency response of the TM-82 is also fairly similar to the Rode M1, although I've never used the Rode M1, so I can't say how similar they sound in practice. What's not to like about the TM-82? It's perhaps 1 or 2 decibels quieter than the AKG D5, which isn't a deal breaker, and in fact, is barely noticeable. Perhaps the biggest flaw with the Tascam TM-82 is that it looks kind of dorky and scientific, but also somehow toylike. This doesn't bother me personally, as I'm of the opinion that "style is expensive" and "how it sounds is everything". The TM-82 sounds GOOD.Am I happy with my TM-82 purchase? Yes. So much so that I just ordered a second one, just in case the first one gets damaged, lost, or stolen.

Sounds almost as good as my much expensive Germany made Sennheiser!
