Bought this to check air conditioning outlet temperature after servicing system. Works good for me. Has little plastic sleeve to protect it. Checked this temperature accuracy against another 2” Taylor thermometer and a non contact thermometer. All 3 show similar temperatures. When I got it, it has a rattle in it? Still works, so I kept it. Might have been roughly handled since it was packed in only a thin, light weight cardboard box.

When my original Taylor digital thermometer of 15+ years finally stopped working I got on Amazon and ordered a seemingly identical replacement without a second thought. Wrong. This thermometer is flimsy and I can see it bending easily with normal use. Unlike my original, this one only goes up to 160 degrees making it impractical for use with many meats. The case is now made of plastic, not the sturdy metal one I was so accustomed to. Had I realized all of this before I threw away the packaging I would have sent the thermometer back. Very disappointed.

I bought this particular brand and model of thermometer several years ago for measuring both soil and air temperatures while doing field work in college and it did the job quite well. I recently purchased this particular model again to replace the one I lost. I now find it quite useful for measuring air temperatures in the home, checking the internal temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer, and checking internal temperatures in meats while cooking. The other thing I like about this model is that it's all mechanical... it does not need batteries. Also, you can calibrate this thermometer to ensure it remains accurate. Once calibrated, I find it to be as accurate as the battery-powered digital thermometer I have by the same company.

Works well for a bit-metal thermo. Food for roasts of beef, pork, chicken, etc. Easy to read and to clean.
