I was buying a new Taylor T5z but the place didn't have this case in stock. Most guitar players will tell you gig bags aren't enough to protect the instrument, and hard shells are preferred. So I was glad this was available on Amazon since that meant fast and free shipping.

So it's just another guitar case, right? Well, more than that. It's definitely one of the nicest cases I've seen, and well worth the extra cost to protect a $2500+ guitar. The craftsmanship is good, the fit is excellent, and little factors like the hinges and handle and latches are all top quality.Two additional comments: 1) don't pay attention to those who say they don't like the case because it's too small for their T5. That's because it's designed for the smaller model T5z. People simply bought the wrong case. 2) there's been a little debate on the color. The listing says it's black. But it's not really. At least mine isn't. The one I got is a very deep brown. I like it better than pure black. I've attached a photo of the Taylor case sitting on top of a standard black Gator case. You can see the subtle difference.Bottom line: if you can afford it, buy this case. Your guitar will love you for it.

The design of the supply section precludes storing picks without being in a separate container. Picks slip under the padding and a challenge to get out.

My t5z came with a hybrid soft/hard aero case. That's actually great for short trips or when my cart is short on space. But this hard shell is much better protection so I take it on the majority of gigs. Solid purchase.

It is like every other taylor hard shell case overpriced, but well enough made with ample passing and a neck pocket. It doesn't fit a T5 in it though so very useful to me
