Next-gen Acoustic-electric, for a SongThere are electric guitars, there are acoustic guitars; then there's the Taylor T5z Classic. Sweetwater's guitar pickers are big fans of Taylor's T5 Thinline acoustic-electric. With the T5z Classic, Taylor gives you even more features that will make you feel right at home if you're coming from a solidbody electric. They've thinned out the body even more, and spec'd the buttery ebony fingerboard with a 12-inch radius and jumbo frets to make string bending even easier. And the range of available sounds? Far beyond what we've come to expect from traditional acoustic or electric guitars. With the T5z Classic, there's no limit to your sonic possibilities!Acoustic or electric: you decide Actually, it's both. The Taylor T5z Classic allows you to get fully acoustic sounds and fully electric sounds from the same guitar. Seamlessly. It's designed to be used with both acoustic and electric amps using

A very versatile instrument. I use for ballads and rock. I’ve wanted for a long time and finally purchased my T5. Very happy with it.

I've owned my T5z for a few years now, I did have troubles right out of the box the volume was full on all the time I just lived with it sense all other controls worked fine....after a few years I decided I needed to get that fixed so contacted Taylor factory support, they sent me out a new contol unit but it was for the wrong guitar, they then sent me out the correct one and told me to keep the other one...excellent customer service!..they wanted me to take it to an authorized dealer but told them I could do it, been a hobbyist modder /upgrader for years and have done plenty of work in tight places.....got it installed in about an hour...works like a champ...."But" one complaint I do have is the acoustic setting...sounds to jangly..I will have to go and check out the acoustic pickup for mounting, it might be loose....it sounds fine when played acoustically thru my Zoom A3, with the right setting...as far as stings, I do not like the gauge they recommend or the type...way to stiff, hard to do decent bends....so I have gone to a gauge lighter and different brand.....I got this as my recording instrument for quick electric to acoustic sounds in a flash.....it is very very light in weight a must for an old geezer like me with back, shoulder and neck troubles....I can actually stand and play this instrument....almost like air especially when using a padded bass strap.....you sometimes forget you have a guitar strapped to you.....overall a very well build instrument for the all around sound... I still use my other guitars for special sound, Jaguar, Tele, nylon, Danelectro's....but for a quick way to jam or put down a demo, it's the instrument to have in your arsenal...I get confused at the make and models mine is the T5z but the $1,499.00 one..

Nice guitar. The battery died after a short time. Would like more info on guitar components.

I went to Guitar Center and tried this one. I am still dreaming and don't want to wash my hands as I told him. This guitar made me feel in heaven. All the sounds you can get are just amazing. I played it using a PA Bose system. The sound and quality are impressive. I like it very clean but at the same time I would like to try it with some effects. The price was quite high almost 3200, custom. I was so close to get it but other obligations made me to think about it. So, it will be my present for this Christmas, for sure. If you are looking for a good guitar with everything in it this one is the best by far. Hundred stars...!!!!

Quality throughout. The name speaks for itself, but when you hold it, when you play it, either accoustically or through an amp or PA, it is absolutely peerless. It's made me a much better player, and in an odd way is almost effortless to play, with a unique and gorgeous range of voice i wouldn't have imagined before.Thank you Taylor.

I ordered one sight unseen a few months ago. It's a very versatile guitar that really goes great with an amp like the Peavey VYPER which has separate accommodations for acoustic and electric (as well as bass). I can press a button on the amp and have 4 presets for acoustic where there are built-in effects like resonater, 12 string, a few acoustic amp models like Trace Elliot. Press a button for electric and move the blade to the bridge humbucker on this Taylor and you have a snarling darling that can sizzle. It took me a while though to appreciate its nuances. The neck is outstanding, the frets, the ebony fingerboard is fast and perfect for my hand. I think for the money though, the gig bag is cheezy. FYI this guitar fits the case made for the Epiphone ES339 like it was made for it. I had that guitar and case and when I saw the fit I bought a second Epi hard case which goes for about $89 whereas the Taylor hard case is $200. I dressed my T5z out in vintage bone pins and a Taylor bone saddle to replace the Tusg and the wood pins. It does seem to make me play more precise but that may be because of the thicker stings Taylor recommends for this (11's). I have gone down to 10's with no complaints though. One thing for lead guitarists to consider, it is short that one fret where the glory is. That is what sorta disappointed me at the beginning but now I use it as a utility guitar for a lot of different sounds and go to the ES 339 ultra if I'm in a wailing mood and have to have that glory fret.
