It holds the cover up. It is lightweight and tips over easily. I have to wait to see how well it works for dealing with water ponding as we live in Southern California and anticipate a rather dry winter.

I put this product in the center of a 60" outdoor table. Each time it rained, the support would fall to the side, failing to keep water off of the tarp. You'd be better off using two or three five-gallon plastic buckets turned upside down on your table.

Purchased one Support Pole System and found we needed to buy another because our round patio table is large and the Duck cover well-made and heavy. Since buying the second, the water is not pooling as much.
