I had these pliers in a tool storage in my garage. There were rust on the pliers that I haven't even used yet. I wrote to Tekton, stating I was disappointed that rust has formed on new tools. I have also included a Milwaukee wire stripper for reference purposes that didn't show any signs of rust that was also in my garage along with the Tekton pliers.Their response was, "Thanks for writing in. We've decided to offer our pliers in a raw finish, or rather no finish. We do this because the plating will often chip off or flake, destroying or weakening the gripping edges. The downside is that they can rust in humidity, especially if cleaned off or not oiled.This surface corrosion will not affect the pliers and will typically be wipe off with a scotch brite / or steel wool, and a little WD40. Wiping them down with WD40 or light oil will protect them from any future corrosion. This is an unfortunate trade-off for having a tool that will ultimately grip a bit better. Most pliers you see out there that look raw will be lacquered clear, which chips off almost immediately and then there is no protection on the tool."I have hand and electrical tools, including pliers that were used, and rust never formed. I never had to oil my tools unless they had visible water or dirty. I will never buy Tekton tools again. So much for Tekton's lifetime warranty. Buyers beware!

Can't go wrong with this pliers set. I bought them for a Christmas present for my son in law. Well worth the money.

These pliers are ok for DIY jobs. I have a feeling most reviews that are giving them 4 or 5 stars are not comparing them to knipex or Wiha or similar commercial use brands. I definitely whole heartedly recommended tekton wrench and socket sets, especially for the money, but these pliers are not quite what they could be.

Not made in China, which is the main goal I had in mind for recent purchases. What I have used so far has worked fine. If something goes wrong I will update this.
