If you are even looking at this product, you probably like old road bikes. These brakes are a great replacement to the garbage single pivots you are probably dealing with now. Pads wear quickly, but you can get some Kool Stops or something when they do. I like these brakes, I'd pick them up at the airport if they asked.***I rely on people's reviews when making my own purchases on Amazon. These will not readily fit on a vintage bike. They are the recessed bolt type.

It took a while to get these. The ups kept loosing my parts in shipping. They worked great once I got them. I put them on my 82 schwinn contental. Works so much better than originals, but ! I can stop qu icky now.

I installed this front caliper as well as the rear caliper, sold separately. Thanks to this brake caliper, my vintage 1980s road bike has entered modern times in terms of being able to stop when I pull the brake levers. As far as I know, this is the only product available with a dual-pivot caliper and bolt-on hardware that fits on older road bikes. Beware, however, that the dual-pivot caliper arms lowered the tire clearance on my bike by a good 5 mm compared to my old single-pivot caliper, meaning that my 27" wheels no longer fit with 1 1/4" Gatorskin tires. Lower profile 1 1/4" tires, like Serfas Seca, still fit, just barely. The reduction was in the *diameter*, not the width tolerance. Someday I'll get with the times and put 700c wheels on this bike, which these calipers would reach just fine, and then I'd be able to put any gosh darn tire thickness on it! :)

looks good. works well. easy to install. there arent too many new brakes with nutted posts out there. good for for upgrades on older bikes. good stopping power. pads are good too.
