I am very pleased with the image quality of this barlow alternative. I use it on my Celestron C11 f10 connected to my cmos asizwo planetary camera. The images shown are the first light images with all of the equipment and I really didn't know what I was doing. Images will be outstanding with practice. I couldn't be happier with this 2.5x.

Televue is a telescope eyepiece manufacturer with a great reputation and this Barlow 2.5x is no exception. Hard to find any better at any price.

Well, I'm sure it does work, and with long focal lengths, and I have seen a sharp image once the few times I've tried it, and I've only tried it on my little galileo (6 inch) and still have yet to try it on my dob and my cat. Hopefully after back surgery I'll be able too handle those!!;)) So here I do give it 5 stars BUT I have much more stargazing to do, before I can know for sure. Ask me a year from now (add three months for recovery) then I'll letchya know.

Works great with my ZWO ASI120MC camera and a 14" Dob. Will have to try it with my Explore Scientific 14mm and 6.7mm 82° eyepieces. The benefit of this Powermate over a barlow is a bit hard to describe. A Barlow will extend the eye relief of your eyepiece while increasing the effective magnification. So, if you have a 20m eye relief eyepiece, about right for those of us that wear glasses, the eye relief with the barlow can be sometimes double that, making it harder to get the object in the correct field of view. A Powermate will increase the effective magnification while also preserving the eyepiece's eye relief. And Televue uses better glass, IMO. Purists will say that the more glass in the optical path the worse the image, but it also depends on the quality of the glass used. My intention with this Powermate is to use with my camera and for double stars and to get a visual on Neptune and Triton this fall.

The pictures I took with this Powermate were not nearly as good as the pictures I took with the free barlow I got as a promotional gift with the purchase of my Meade LX90 10inch SC. That and the Powermate barely fit in my telescope. It was so tight I had to turn it like a bolt to get it to fit in.I was so disappointed. I was worried the the quality of my pictures would just be ever so slightly better, but I figured it's the price one has to pay to get that extra edge. When the pictures I took came out actually worse, I said "nope, this is not acceptable".Maybe this item is designed for telescopes that are nicer than mine.Amazon and/or the dealer promptly returned and refunded the item.
