When we retired to Montana, we found that the major source of fuel in our area was electric or wood. Not being familiar with wood burning stoves and the fact that our house was a 'summer' home, we were not comfortable with wood burning stoves. We bought a propane stove to heat the main living level of the home, but found the fan too loud to live with. I found another, smaller version of this fan & bought it & we turned the fan on the propane stove off. What a relief. I found this one in 2016 & added it to the top of the stove & it has gotten us through several multiple below zero freezes with no problems. It doesn't generate a 'breeze' like regular fans, but you can certainly feel the warm air wafting toward you depending on the direction you point the fan.

This is a worthless piece of junk! Mine broke within weeks. I didn't even have many fires during its short lifespan, and they were never super hot. I did not find that it did much good even when it functuoned. Save your money!

Bought this to help further distribute air around a newly-installed wood stove/insert that contains an intake/circulation fan. This little gem helps push the hot air more directly into the room, noticeably increasing the radius of warmth around the fireplace.Love the fact that it is self-powered, so no extra cost for electricity or outlet needed. In case the electricity should go out during the winter, this will help spread stove-generated heat when the stove's fan is inoperable due to an outage.Sitting atop the upper woodstove edge, it's nearly invisible against the black stove and surround. Silent operation too.

I had to return the first one, it quit after 2 days. It's pretty enemic. I don't feel any effect from it. Perhaps the bigger ones are better.

We've only had a short time to evaluate the fan. So far, so good. The fan starts when the temperature gets to a certain point and continues to increase speed as the stove temperature increases. It continues to stay on all evening.. We do notice a little extra warmth in the living room and the fan sends heat down the hallway to our bedroom. Good investment for the price.

I liked the concept of this unique little fan so thought I'd give it a try. Set it up on my wood stove and sure enough, at a certain point it kicks in and silently spins. Neat. I then walked up to it to try and feel the air. I had to put my face within 2 inches of the blades to even feel any air flow...and then get this...the air felt cold(?!) Anyway, as another reviewer mentioned, any adult can simply blow and create more far more air flow than this fan does. I don't see how it could possibly have any meaningful effect circulating air. Too bad. I kinda like it. If it were half the price I'd keep it for the "neat" factor.

I am using this on top of my woodstove. If the built in electric blower of my stove blows air out at 100% capacity, this fan blows air at a maximum of 2% of that capacity at max speed. The fan blades are going very, very fast but I can put my hand right in front of it and it is hard to tell if the air movement is from the convection of the heated air rising from the top of the stove, or from this fan. I put paper strips in front of it, and . . . nothing. It looks cool, it runs on an interesting principle, but as far as actually blowing warm air to distribute the air? No. Anyone who rated this fan higher than 3 stars (it's ok) had to have been referring to the cool factor alone. It is a super cool device and I'll give it that, but sadly, it is almost worthless for its intended purpose. Also, the manual stated that the motor will likely last just a few seasons and then need to be replaced. I have no idea what that costs but I assume that it won't be cheap. This fan was not worth $100. If you have money to burn, sure go ahead -but if you really want to warm up your house and have a budget, I suggest that you have an electric blower installed (good internal blower fans can REALLY crank the heat all throughout a 2,000 sf 2 story house) or just use a fan on oscillate to distribute the heat fairly well throughout 1 story.
