The Beadsmith Professional Quality Disc Cutter Set will cut perfect circles neatly and easily. This is a great time saver from the old ways of cutting and sawing your own circles from sheet metal. The holes of the tool have been drilled, reamed, and honed in order to make fine and clean cutters. The set contains 4 punches and die. The tool can create 4 different size circles from 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 2" (25.4, 31.75, 38.1, 50.8 mm). The base measures: 5-1/2" x 3-3/4" x 1-1/4" (139.7 x 95.3 x 31.8mm). This tool is constructed from solid high-density and durable alloy steel. To use please remember to put on your safety glasses and place your tool on a sturdy durable surface. The tool is packaged in some oil for its protection. Wipe off the excess oil before starting. The tool should be on a rubber bench block or pad for support. Use a lubricant on the cutting edges of the punch to reduce friction and ensure a cleaner cut. Remember the flat side goes down and the bevel side is up. Place the soft sheet metal up to 14 gauge and thinner (such as aluminum, brass, silver and gold) into the slot and put the punch into the hole. Use a 1-2 lb copper or brass hammer and with a clean strong strike push the cutter through creating a nice crisp and clean circle. This tool is ideal to create jewelry, artwork, crafts and more. The best part is that our cutter is easy to use. This tool makes the perfect gift — give your loved ones the extra boost they need to get them started on that hobby they've been planning to start. It's sure to be a unique gift to help them develop their creative and artistic talents. This tool is ideal to create jewelry, artwork, crafts and more.

2 of the discs cutters were very tight. After squeezing them in and attempting to cut a 2 inch disc with 20 gauge silver, the die got stuck in the hole. I had to hammer it out. Tried again but now it no longer fit into the hole at all. I tried 1 1/4 inch disc with 22 gauge and the same thing occurred. Returned the disc cutter. Consequently, 2 of the disc cutters were packed separately. All this occurred on the day the disc cutters arrived. I was able to cut just 3 discs total and 2 of them had ragged edges. I don’t understand why the cutters could no longer fit into the hole after just one cut.

As someone suggested, using a press minimizes lateral movement of the die. The fixed 1/4" gap is too much. If the gap between the top and bottom die was 1/8", there would be less room for the die to move. bind. and scar the cutter. There are no instructions with this. tool. Reversing the cutting die is NOT a good idea, as it will bind.

We use this to make 2" disks from copper sheets. Using a hydronic press this works perfect. Rubber mallet to push the punch through after the cut, very high precision machining and a tight fit in the punch gives really sharp clean edges on the disks. Really a very good product.

I'm not quite sure how I'm going to fix this problem but one of the cutters is too tight. No amount of oil make any difference so I'll have to figure out how to reduce the diameter of the cutter or enlarge the diameter of the hole.

I received this just after I had a serious injury that prevented me from being able to use it. Fast forward three months later, and I am healed and ready to use it. I opened the box and was surprised to see that the little cardboard/cloth box it came it was totally torn apart. When I attempted to use the largest punch, the gap you put the metal into is so wide that it doesn't keep the copper I'm using still at all. The metal jumps around, so that I can't get a solid, clean cut. My discs come out with tons of rings around the edges - not what I want. One reviewer said that they use this in in a die machine, and so they're happy with it, but that is not why I purchased this tool.

Use a press and you will get great cuts. Id personally not use a hammer as the plates do not tighten, any bounce with a hit would damage what ever your cutting. A press holds and pushes the die through. Really nice big discs
