This is a great looking book with nice instructions. So far, this is my favorite Fons and Porter Quilt Book. This is a nice addition to my library and will be using it soon. I checked it out of the Library first and liked it so much I had to buy one for myself.

This quilting book is an absolute must have for anyone who loves using quilts to decorate their home or give quilted gifts! When they say, the best of, they mean it, and I agree with their choices. I have quite a collection of quilting books and this one easily rises to my current favorite's list. I came late to the party, purchasing this book in 2013. I wish I'd gotten it sooner! I recommend that you don't wait!No matter a person's taste, occasion, and skill level there is a table topper in this book for them. Starting is not a problem...stopping might be!There are four chapters: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter; eight toppers in each. In addition to the toppers there is an apron and wall-hanging bringing the project count to 34! A seasonal theme is accomplished through traditional colors for each and in icons such as: spring flowers, red hearts, sunflowers, leaves, pumpkins, red, white & blue, candy corn, reindeer, pine trees, and others). I know I like to decorate my tables for the changing seasons and various holidays. Rest assured though, there are plenty of toppers that can be used all year round! Of course, I can substitute my color choices for those shown. This book has it all! The designs are beautiful and any one of them will become a lasting treasure to be passed on to following generations which, in my way of thinking, is a legacy I can leave behind. (Be sure to sign and date all of your projects, no matter how small or if you made it for yourself! I haven't done so and I regret it!) Each design includes a comprehensive materials list and easy to understand and follow step-by-step instructions.Throughout the pages are "Sew Smart" boxes with tips from either Marianne Fons or Liz Porter. Additionally, there is a "Sew Easy" instruction page following designs that feature a particular technique such as: cutting large circles, paper foundation piecing, making flying geese units, making stars, making a scalloped frame border, bias-strip piecing, decorative embroidery stitches, quick cutting 45-degree diamonds, making hexagon stars, windowing fusible applique, and prairie point edging! In the back of the book there are further instructions for EVERYTHING I need to know. I also love that there is a quilting diagram for each topper. A profile on each designer is given making it possible for me to search for additional works by them.

I like doing small table-top quilts - they don't take so long. There are lots of ideas in this book, and many of the patterns involve several types of sewing - appliques, dresden patterns, etc. I'm loioking forawrd to making several of these!

This is now one of my favourite books, beautiful designs, lots of choice and well laid out. The designs are very pretty its hard to decide which to do first. A really good buy for any sewer/quilter, the book is packed full with designs.

I had already made the round chicken quilt from the Fons and Porter quilt magazine when I saw this book on Amazon. I haven't (as yet) made anything else from the book...like most quilters, I am several years behind in my projects. If I quit buying now, I'd still have to live to 120 to finish everything. The Fons and Porter quilt patterns are explicit, carefully researched and imaginative. I've gotten many comments and compliments on the chicken quilt; everyone enjoys looking at it.
